As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community banking technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Perform Database Performance Diagnostic skills (SQL and system level). Identify and tune utilizing appropriate DB tools and reports.  Analyze and optimize schemas, data tables, structures, stored procedures etc. with appropriate capacity monitoring.
  • Monitor Relational DB Operations – Oracle 19c and higher running on Linux environment such as cloud, AWS RDS Aurora and data migrations
  • Create DB replication strategies  (ADG, Golden Gate, Storage level etc.) for zero data loss and minimal lag
  • Secure Data at rest and in motion. Promotes and implements highly resilient modern blueprint stable designs
  • Setup and monitor with visibility tools, real-time/RCA’s issues, working across teams to identify and prevent reoccurrence
  • Work as a team or individual, outcome-oriented, utilizing standard architectural designs using good technical knowledge to drive changes where appropriate while adding to a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
  • Experience of more than five years in Data Engineering/DBA experience with appropriate certifications in disciplines such as data movement, pipelines, transformations storage, retrieval DB modeling and performance tuning.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Understanding of database design concepts (Pluggable DB’s) and data modeling for relational or nonrelational databases such as RDBMS (Oracle/Postgress), No SQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) or NewSql (Cockroach DB) and search DB’s like Elasticsearch incorporating multimaster across multiregions.
  • Practical cloud experience in AWS Cloud services and native data technologies such as AWS EMR, Glu, Lambda, MSK, RDS, Document DB etc.
  • Expertise in one or more big data processing frameworks such as Spark, Flink, Storm etc. with stream processing experience using Kafka.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as Java or Python with familiarity with full stack technologies such as NodeJS, React etc.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as a Code technologies such as Terraform, Spinnaker with experience working in a cloud dev-ops environment with CI/CD pipelines, change management, Application Resiliency, and  Security understanding.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Preferable experience with deploying to public and/or private cloud ideally with multi-cloud experience, ideally Cloud agnostic (Snowflake or another public cloud) and Active/Active across region designs, AWS Solution Developer, Architecture, Terraform Certificates etc. is a plus.
  • Understanding of data design & modeling principles as well as architecture patterns such as data lake, lakehouse, data mart, data fabric and data mesh with experience in Data migrations and Open/Linked data media types such as RDF, Turtle, JSON-LD will be useful.
  • Understanding of Data lakes and the set of technologies and patterns to facilitate products moving to them.
  • Preferable experience with Semantic technologies, modeling and related concepts such as controlled vocabularies, ontologies as well as taxonomies.
