As part of Nielsen’s Campaign Analytics team you will be part of a data science team focused on building scalable solutions to answer the questions like: What was the return on investment for specific media spend? Which marketing type drove the highest return on investment? How do we measure the causal relationship between advertising and engagement/sales? How can we use data to help our clients plan for the future? Our Campaign Analytics Data Science associates come from diverse disciplines that include business, economics, engineering, mathematics, operations research, physics and statistics. Nielsen’s Data Science organization is hiring a Manager, Data Science to lead an innovative cross productresearch and technology transformation for our core Impact media products. The ideal candidate must have expertise in leading the research and development of analytic solutions with a focus on mathematical modeling, statistical methods, and machine learning processes. The candidate would also have the capacity to work in an agile development environment alongside software engineers, and a solid foundation in developing solutions for marketing, and advertising organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and may manage a team of data scientists
  • Create various prototypes for research and development purposes
  • Research, design and implement analytic and mathematical approaches and algorithms to build scalable best of class web-based analytical solutions
  • Document and present statistical and causal inference methods to internal stakeholders and key clients
  • Partner closely with product and software engineering leaders to act as a thought leader around new outcomes methods, ensuring methods are analytically and statistically appropriate to deliver business needs
  • Interface with stakeholders and provide updates on project status and help identify dependencies and risks.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Nielsen’s proprietary tools/applications, focusing on the data model, weighting, computations, and enhanced methodologies.
  • Design and prioritize work for the team.
  • Help with hiring talent for open positions.
  • Grow and develop talent within the organization encouraging an open collaborative environment and identifying opportunities for associates

Requirements

  • PhD or Masters degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering,
  • Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Related field
  • 5+ yrs experience in working in Data Science and/or Statistical analysis
  • 2+ yrs of experience people management
  • Expertise in Python, Spark, SQL or other modern programming languages
  • Experience in using machine learning libraries and techniques
  • Proficient in writing production grade code using scientific computing packages (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn)
  • Experience with pipeline design/architecture and airflow or other orchestration tools
  • Experience with Bayesian and Frequentist statistics
  • Experience with NumPyro a plus
  • Experience working with cloud providers (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Expertise in short-release life-cycle (agile processes including scrum)
  • Well-organized and capable of leading multiple mission-critical projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Quick learner with a logical mindset and analytical thinking who is passionate about technology
