Job Description Summary:
The Manager Data Sciene in Global Commercial Lending Credit Risk is responsible for performing data analytics using machine learning tools to identify opportunities and build strategies to mitigate risk associated with commercial lending portfolio
•Lead and manage a team of employees providing guidance, support and mentorship to deliver the key strategic initaitives
•Participate and support multiple high-impact strategic initiatives pertaining to credit risk management and strategies using Bank Statement data
•Leverage Bank statement data to develop credit risk strategies and policies, optimizing risk assessment and decision making process to enhance lending outcomes while ensuring regulatory compliance

•This position will directly impact the Global Merchant Lending business by delivering a new set of capabilities that will enable overall growth of the commercial lending portfolios, while effectively managing credit risk.
•The core objective is to deliver credit risk strategies based on leveraging bank statement data, income statements, and balance sheet statements in both a systemic and manual underwriting environments.
•This position will report directly to the Director of GML Credit
•The GML Credit Risk team directly supports the GML Business Unit and other relevant key stakeholders across PayPal’s Consumer, Merchant, Credit, and Payments Business Units.

Your day to day
- Help to develop and continuously enhance risk management policies, processes, and controls for mitigating credit risk exposure in the commercial lending portfolio.
- Utilize advanced analytical techniques to extract insights from bank statement data, identifying trends, patterns, and risk factors related to creditworthiness and repayment behavior
- Identify new risk management opportunities and assess creditworthiness of businesses through deep dive analysis leveraging credit bureau, bank statement and financial statement data
- Monitor credit quality of commercial loan portfolio and optimize profit-based risk management decisions at all stages of the customer credit lifecycle
- Conduct quantitative analysis to decide the thresholds within which businesses can access commercial loan (for example: who is approved for commercial loan, how much loan amount do they receive, and how to improve spin-down & recovery rate in collections)
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate new data sources and capabilities to identify emerging credit risk trends and create robust credit risk management strategies
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that credit risk management practices are integrated into business processes
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to understand business requirements and incorporate domain knowledge into strategy development
- Lead and manage a team of employees providing guidance, support and mentorship to foster individual growth and team success
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate goal-setting sessions to drive continuous improvement
- Translate ambiguous, unstructured business problems into actionable data-driven analyses
- Support multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging risks related to commercial lending.
What do you need to bring-
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
- Prior experience in commercial lending, credit risk management, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Finance, Economics or related quantitative discipline.
- 6+ years post-college working experience within the data-mining, quantitative research or analytics organization. Credit Risk experience is a must.
- Must be an intuitive, organized analytical thinker, with the ability to perform detailed analysis.
- Candidate should possess strong people management skills, fostering team growth and cohesion within the credit strategy development role
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills a must including the ability to explain and/or present analysis.
- Must have good business judgment with demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically.
- Aptitude and willingness to roll-up the sleeves and get involved in the details.

- Proficiency in Python, R and SQL.
