We are currently seeking a Power BI Processor/Developer to join our team in Arlington, Virginia (US-VA), United States (US).
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a talented cybersecurity Power BI specialist/developer to join our cyber security service support team. This program provides targeted threat monitoring and response capabilities requiring analysts to have advanced levels of experience in security event monitoring, cyber intelligence, and fusion analysis. Candidates will be responsible for the development and administration of BI tools. Their main duty is to transform raw data into meaningful information providing insight, identify trends conduct provide trend analysis and provide the subsequent dashboard for consumption. This is accomplished through interactive and user-friendly dashboards, analysis, and reports. The role of a Power BI specialist/developer is vital for businesses because it provides the CISO, executives, and other stakeholders with the strategic information crucial for decision rendering, Business Impact Analysis – BIA’s, Status of accreditation schedules, actionable trends, and identification of organizational capabilities gaps and overlap. Power BI professionals are expected to perform a wide range of tasks such as reporting, building dashboards, building data models, analyzing datasets, and administration of Power BI tools.
Job Description:
The ideal candidate will need to define problems, build models, and perform analysis to identify alternatives and recommendations to maximize operational efficiency. Create visualizations that tell a story to clearly explain results of analysis describing complex mathematical methods, applications, and results to the client and teammates from technical and non-technical disciplines. The ideal candidate must possess superior communication skills, the ability to analyze cybersecurity data, prepare data-rich presentations for senior government leaders and stakeholders, and exhibit great attention to detail quantitatively and qualitatively. This is a hybrid position with 3 days of remote work and 2 days on-site each week. The selected applicant must be located within a commutable distance of the Arlington VA area. All of the duties listed support one or more of the following cybersecurity related functions; information security, SPAA, incident response, cyber security, insider threat, computer forensics, vulnerability assessment and management, network data capture, intrusion detection, log management, auditing, security incident and event management (SIEM), and penetration testing. Personnel assigned to this role will serve primarily on the cybersecurity services team and other sections or divisions within the organization.
Job Duties:
The Power BI Data ETL Processor/Developer is responsible for:
- Develop operational reports.
- Build automated reports and dashboards with the help of Power BI and other reporting tools.
- Understand business requirements to set functional specifications for reporting applications.
- Be experienced in tools and systems on MS SQL Server BI Stack, including SSRS and TSQL, Power Query, MDX, PowerBI, and DAX.
- Be able to quickly shape data into reporting and analytics solutions.
- Create functional reports.
- Have knowledge of database fundamentals such as multidimensional database design, relational database design, and more.
- Familiar with what Power BI can do and translates user requests into design documents.
- Somone who can figure out a company’s data sources and coerce them into a neat, presentable format. Should also be able to perform and transform requests into Power BI.
- An individual would be the person who figures out how to get the data from the back end to the front end.
- Possess deep technical skills. You must know what is possible in cloud architecture (i.e., Azure Services), even if they do not end up capitalizing on possibilities.
- Ability to write the ETL and be skilled in data modeling/design, ETL scriptwriting, setting up jobs, and keeping the flow from the back end, making it to the front end.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) with specific objectives and track them regularly.
- Create, test, and deploy Power BI scripts, as well as execute efficient deep analysis.
- Use Power BI to run DAX queries and functions.
- Create charts and data documentation with explanations of algorithms, parameters, models, and relationships.
- For a better understanding of the data, use filters and visualizations.
- Analyze current ETL procedures to define and create new systems.
- Utilizing analytical, statistical skills to collect, analyze, and interpret cybersecurity data sets to build visualizations in various tools (e.g., PowerBI, Qualys, and Crowdstrike).
- Analyze data sets found in the customer’s vulnerability scanning, authorization, and configuration management tools to visually display cybersecurity hygiene and risk.
- Import and transform data into usable sets for analysis tools used by the customer (e.g., PowerBI).
- Provide analysis and graphical presentations of collected metrics for status reporting.
- Support legacy visualization and situational awareness tools based on Microsoft Excel.
- Collaborate with the Cybersecurity Services Section to investigate options to simplify and automate the current security posture data reporting.
- Work on various projects with units, sections, CISO, & CIO of the organization.
- Examines data from multiple disparate sources with the goal of providing security and privacy insight. Designs and implements custom algorithms, workflow processes, and layouts for complex, enterprise-scale data sets used for modeling, data mining, and research purposes.
- Analyze, organize, and transform data into understandable reports, technical specifications, and visualizations.
- Develop business intelligence tools, database objects, ETL scripts, and SQL queries to extract information from data sets.
- Develops and identifies metrics, conducts analysis, and identifies gaps in data.
- Brings technical expertise to ensure the quality and accuracy of cybersecurity data.
- Explains intricate technical processes in non-technical terms, and modernizes, maintains, and streamlines reports for technical and non-technical presentations to leadership.
- Organize and format data to ensure efficiency and quality in data storage and retrieval.
- Prepare and present quantitative data for an executive audience.
- Utilize analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large cybersecurity data sets.
- Analyze data sets found in the customer’s vulnerability scanning, authorization, and configuration management tools.
- Import and transform data into usable sets for analysis tools used by the customer (e.g., Tableau).
- Provide analysis and graphical presentations of collected metrics for IA compliance status reporting.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Physical Science, or other technology
- Education Equivalency: High School Diploma + 4 additional years of experience = Associate’s Degree; Associate’s Degree + 4 additional years of experience = Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 4 years of experience in data analytics.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in any combination as a:
- Microsoft Power BI, data preparation, data gateway, data warehousing projects, SQL Server Analysis Services – (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services – (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services – (SSIS) data scientist, data analyst, developer/programmer, data engineer, mathematics, ISSE, security engineer, DevSecOps engineer, cloud security engineer, or architect.
- Minimum 3 years of experience creating reports utilizing report writing software or Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Power BI, BIRT, OBIEE, Tableau, or Pentaho.
- Active Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain Top-Secret clearance.
- Must be able to successfully complete a DEA background investigation in conjunction with being an active Secret or higher clearance holder and must be eligible for a Top-Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background with BI tools and systems such as Power BI, Tableau, and SAP.
- Understanding of Microsoft Power Bi Stack.
- Be familiar with MS SQL Server BI Stack tools and technologies, such as SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, TSQL, Power Query, MDX, Power BI and DAX.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Infogram, Chartbloks).
- Experience with data transformation (structured data format/schema transformation) using common programming tools (e.g., Python, JSON, etc.).
- Experience applying statistical analysis to large data sets.
- Experience briefing senior customer personnel.
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience with Relational Database Management System (RDMS).
- Experience with Apache Hadoop and the Hadoop Distributed File System.
- Experience with Amazon Elastic MapReduce (EMR) and SageMaker.
- Experience with Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence.
- Experience briefing and building visualization for executive leadership, PowerBI and API use, risk assessments through data aggregation.
- Deep understanding of statistics and analysis.
- Ability to code in multiple languages, including Python.
- Knowledge of databases, data structures, and data architectures.
- Ability to mine and analyze data from a range of sources, including customer transactions, click streams, sensors, social media, log files and GPS plots.
- Ability to unlock valuable and predictive insights that will influence business decisions and spur a competitive advantage.
- Experience using applying advanced computing resources (super computers, GPGPU etc.) computers to improve efficiency and effectiveness of algorithms.
- Experience with Python, Scala, MongoDB, NoSQL, ELK, Hadoop (or similar).
- Familiarity with concepts of big data, big data processing – AWS Cloud Services, Kafka, Storm.
- Elasticsearch Indexing & Lucene queries.
- Ingestion Pipelines, Integration APIs, and provide Elasticsearch tuning/optimizing based on application needs.
- Designing and developing highly scalable Data Pipelines that incorporate complex transformations and efficient code.
- Experience with Configuration Management and automation technologies preferably AWS.
- Familiarity with streaming analytics.
- A solid understanding of modern HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
- DevSecOps, cloud system administration or engineering, integrating, developing and/or deploying information technology products (hardware and software) in an enterprise environment.
- Experience briefing and building visualization for executive leadership, PowerBI and API use, risk assessments through data aggregation.
