Job Description
The Microsoft AI organization is responsible for creating impactful AI solutions that empower individuals and businesses. Our work is focused on keeping Bing safe for our customers. We need someone who is excited to do this on a web-scale, which impacts billions of queries per day and millions of users. This happens through extensive data analysis, investigating and using state-of-the-art deep-learnt models and measuring the current state of the product on diverse parameters.

We are looking for a Principal Applied Scientist who is excited to work on ML/DL models capable of working on an internet scale. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in solving complex real-world ML/DL problems. In addition, the candidate will have knowledge of one or more ML/DL frameworks with a deep understanding of different algorithms and their applications. We hire people excited to solve the hard problems, eager to work in a larger team of data scientists and engineers and ready to make an impact on how the web works.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, design and build an efficient data pipeline that can train, test, optimize and deploy high quality models into production to run at scale.
- Collaborate with teams to identify and explore opportunities for solving real world problems.
- Communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute modelling expertise as a team player.
- Mentor junior applied scientists in the team and help them solve bigger challenges.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Statistics/Math/Computer Science or related field.
- 10+ years of industry work experience in SQL, Python, machine/deep learning, and analysis (Recommenders, Prediction, Classification, Clustering, etc.) in a big data environment.
- Experience on large scale computing systems like COSMOS, Hadoop, MapReduce and/or similar systems preferred.
- Familiarity with deep learning toolkits
- Programming experience
- Self-driven and ability to deliver ambiguous projects with incomplete or dirty data.
