Summary

This Principal Data Analyst is a technical expert for Data Services and leads the conceptual and strategic direction of data services projects, overseeing design integrity from inception through completion. This role plays a crucial role in coordinating with and across Information Management, ITS, and across the Enterprise on data strategies and is accountable for providing thought leadership, consultation, and technology guidance to achieve business and strategic objectives.   The Principal will lead product technical evaluation, implementation approach, integration strategy, and future state architecture definition, working hand-in-hand with other senior leaders on Data Services/Information Management initiatives. 

What You’ll Do

  • Acts as overall technical lead and single point of contact for Data Services initiatives and projects that support our team capabilities, tools capabilities, etc.   Supports estimation of project costs through all phases of the project including analysis, development, integration, testing, deployment. Acts as an Information Steward and leads by example on data governance best practices, policies and standards. 
  • Partners with other technical Principal Analysts and Data Architects within Information Management, ITS and across the enterprise on domain-specific topics, including data quality.
  • Leads complex troubleshooting of urgent, enterprise-wide technical/data problems. 
  • Consults with administrators and departments to provide guidance and technical direction for proposed enterprise technical solutions with a data focus.  Evaluates existing and proposed systems and recommend upgrades and/or modifications .   
  • Provides technical decision-making and supports product evaluation efforts by analyzing, evaluating, and leading proofs-of-concept to support overall program decision making. 
  • Engages with technical collaborators and application teams to understand technical landscape integrations, and dependencies, and ensure alignment with enterprise standards, architecture best practices, and key integrations. 
  • Maintains awareness of training and certifications available for department tools and products and provides input on training for the team. 
  • May prepare and/or conduct written and oral reports and presentations. 
  • Mentors and coaches junior team members, including supporting their technical and professional development.  Provides input on success metrics for the team.

  • Expert knowledge in principles of database design, structure development, features, operations, programming, and data access. 
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and perform a variety of work assignments. 
  • Possess strong organizational, project management and leadership skills. 
  • Deep understanding and practice in Data Governance activities- data cataloging, data quality and data modeling to support and elevate the data services offered to the Enterprise. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Strong service orientation, and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with users, peers, office and firm management, and outside business partners. 
  • Ability to communicate with executives and staff in an effective, non-technical manner with patience, tact and diplomacy. 
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and expertise in the enterprise administration of the systems such as: 
  • Collibra Data Catalog (Data Governance tool) 
  • Collibra Data Quality tool 
  • Erwin Data Modeling tool 
  • Enterprise Architect/Sparx Data Modeler 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner. 
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, facilitate solutions, and meet deadlines and milestones for projects/cases assigned. 
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high ethical standards and strict confidentiality of data, projects, strategy. 
  • Proven ability to maintain and update technical knowledge and skills. 

Experience

10 years professional experience in discipline.

The preferred candidate will have experience in Data Management or Data Governance, as well as experience designing and delivering products in cross-functional teams from start to finish.

Master’s degree desired.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution plus an additional 18 graduate level college credits in an area of specialty.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
