Role Description

The role is specifically working on our Transformation Programme helping to shape and implement our commercial business. Our ambition is to transform the End-to-End experience and journey for our policyholders, intermediaries, internal users and other parties, through a combination of modernising core systems, data-led digital asset development and integrations (internal and external). At Allianz, there’s a growing focus on data and data-driven decision-making and in this senior level Data Architect role, you will be part of the data architecture team responsible for providing thought leadership to CDO function.

We have an incredible opportunity for a Principal Data Architect to influence the future of data management and data analytics at Allianz.  We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is looking to take our data capabilities to the next level.

 

The Principal Data Architect is accountable for executing the vision and strategy for the organisations use of data. You will be accountable for defining and maintaining the data architecture roadmap , offering advice and guidance to business stakeholders. You will ensure that data architect solutions align with business requirements and data policies and regulations. You will be accountable for the choice of the toolsets required to design, build, manage and maintain the data storage facility within an agreed budget. You lead the team by example and work closely with our business, Allianz Group and other data teams to deliver a simplified data solution ensuring that data is secure, available, and accurate to business stakeholders.

In your role, you will be part of the Data Architecture team based at our Head Office in Guildford. Allianz offers a hybrid working model, which means you will have the flexibility to work both remotely and from the office.

 

As a Principal Data Architect,

  • You will lead cross-functional teams and executing the data strategies from your vast experience
  • You will translate business requirements into data models that are easy to understand and used by different subject areas. 
  • You will design, implement and build data models and pipelines that deliver data with measurable quality.
  • You will be responsible for defining data architectural solutions leveraging the cloud tech stack available that are in line with the long-term business strategy.
  • You will be accountable for the creation of data flows (operational / analytical) that show key data entities and any data required to implement solutions.
  • You will work closely with IT Enterprise Architects / Az tech solution architects to ensure that business and data strategy are fully aligned.
  • You will work closely with business stakeholders to educate and engage in architectural and requirements analysis discussions.
  • You will be accountable for the simplification the data estate by reducing the number of tools/data duplication utilised to gather data, this will include the design and management of data feeds, introduction of best practice including documentation and version control.
  • You will be responsible for working closely with project team and raising risks. You will manage risks to mitigation, resolution, or acceptance.
  • You will engage with senior management and playback options and opportunities considering time cost and quality.
  • You will be accountable to ensure that any design, build and decommissioning and archive of
  • You will partner with product teams, data analysts and engineering teams to build foundational data sets that are trusted, well understood, and aligned with business strategy. 
  • You will improve existing systems, including what areas have gaps that need to be filled, and have started working with the team and stakeholders to scope and prioritize solutions.
  • You will work proactively with stakeholders and establish strong working relationships and a mutual trust.
  • You will be accountable for the management and resolution of escalations from both external and internal stakeholders.
