Job Description

Camgian is searching for an experienced technical manager to support our growing business. As a Product Technical Manager (PTM) you will provide strategic technical guidance to convert product vision and prioritized product features into an executable plan to successfully deliver the products defined by the Business Unit. The PTM defines the system architecture, key algorithms, and tasks required to achieve the value proposition, also serving as a subject matter expert to guide the engineering team through the product development life cycle. The PTM formulates intellectual property strategies to minimize product costs and to generate company value. The ideal candidate encourages an environment that promotes excellence, innovation, collaboration, and teamwork. This role will report to the VP of Product Development.

Qualifications

Expertise and hands-on experience with system architecture in hardware and/or software applications

Understanding capabilities, limitations, and tradeoffs of technologies across engineering subject matters

Demonstrated experience in translating customer needs to system definition of features and design specs

Demonstrated ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams to define product system architectures

Demonstrated ability to identify and manage product and program technical risks

Demonstrated experience in product implementation

Experience with integration constraints, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and solutions

10+ years professional experience

Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant technical degree

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Desired Skills

Defines the system architecture, key technical attributes, algorithms, and tasks required to ensure the value proposition is achieved

Estimates time and resources required to complete tasks including obtaining input from development teams

Defines acceptance criteria for technical tasks to ensure the development team has achieved the task goals

Builds and maintains a robust, forward looking, prioritized product backlog to inform the development team on resource, schedule, and scope decisions

Mentors the product development teams as necessary to achieve function, schedule, and budgets

Determines whether the product was satisfactorily delivered to ensure the development team meets acceptance criteria

Interfaces with customer technical representatives to build customer confidence and trust

Key Responsibilities

Experience in the following areas are strongly desired.

Performance limitations and tradeoffs of variety of hardware processing platforms

Understanding of physical data interfaces and their tradeoffs (e.g. USB, serial, embedded camera interface)

Knowledge of various sensor modalities (e.g. EO/IR (LW/MW/SW/NIR), acoustic, magnetic, passive RF, active RF) and modeling of these modalities

Knowledge of algorithms/DSP/AI/ML (e.g. signal processing including traditional, statistical, image/video; feature extraction, natural language processing, machine learning concepts (model training, network architectures / complexity, performance expectations, data science including data mining)

Problem Solving

Familiarity with government contracts, processes, and program execution

Exceptional work ethic, willingness to learn, tenacity not to quit, aptitude to surpass, and strong desire to work in a fast-paced environment, with existing and new product lines, are necessary for success. Collaboration and cross-pollination with other teams will be frequent, thus communication, openness, and willingness to share BOTH success and failure is a must.
