The company has an R&D team with an established track record in the pharmaceutical development of small molecule protease inhibitors, world-leading expertise in the role of plasma kallikrein in disease, and a management team with the capability to bring small molecules through the clinic to commercialization.

KalVista seeks an RWE Data Scientist (HAE), which is critical to the organization’s mission as it prepares to commercialize sebetralstat, a novel, oral plasma kallikrein inhibitor. KalVista recently reported positive results from the KONFIDENT Phase 3 study which demonstrated that sebetralstat met all primary and secondary endpoints for the on-demand treatment of HAE attacks and the safety profile was comparable to placebo. The Company plans to submit a new drug application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the first half of 2024 and expects to file for approval in Europe and Japan later in 2024.

The RWE Data Scientist (HAE) will perform various functions, including utilizing modern data science techniques to examine, explain, organize and interpret data sets (RWD/observational), as well as conducting analytics concerning health care outcomes. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for executing statistical methods to solve specific business problems, such as causal inference methods, modelling, prediction techniques, etc.
  • Responsible for developing new data sources, testing model enhancements, and fine-tuning model parameters to improve upon existing methodologies
  • Take active part in building an internal RWE database/data warehouse
  • Ensure that the models are well developed, tested, trained, and implemented
  • Ensure that the integrity and dependability of data for analytical purposes are processed, cleansed and verified
  • Decide features for data extraction, which might include the construction and optimization of classifiers utilizing machine-learning methods

 

  • Responsible for the accurate exploration of internally and externally sourced data to search for unseen insights and correlation
  • Responsible for data management for constructing analytic systems
  • Strongly supports the adoption of data science and well improved analytics across the whole organization, and at managerial, executive, and operational stages

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or statistics, or in any other quantitative field. Master’s degree preferred 
  • Proficiency in at least one statistical software package such as SAS, Stata, Matlab, or Python; experience with object-oriented programming languages, as well as expertise using SQL for acquiring and transforming data from relational databases
  • Capable of managing shifting priorities in a rapidly changing and environment
  • Team player willing to work collaboratively across the organization
  • Communicates clearly, concisely, and is easily understood in written materials and presentations
  • Strong strategic thinking and track record for operational excellence
  • Appropriate knowledge of pharma guidelines and regulations and able to apply compliance knowledge to Medical Affairs activities
  • Role based in Cambridge, MA. Up to 10% travel required
