As a part of the global research, our AI research in Silicon Valley focuses on Foundation Models, Big Data Visual Analytics, Explainable AI (XAI), Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Cloud Robotics, Data Science, AI Platform, Time-series Analysis. We develop scalable, intelligent, and trustworthy AIoT solutions to enable inspiring UX for Bosch products and services in application areas such as automated driving, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), robotics, smart manufacturing, enterprise AI, health care, smart home and building solutions.

As a part of our global research unit, the Scalable and Advanced AI group is responsible for advancing Artificial Intelligence at scale for industry and mobility applications. Our mission is to develop AI solutions that drive innovation, solve complex industry problems, and shape the future user experience of Bosch products for both internal and external users in the fields of Forecasting, Predictive Maintenance, Autonomous Driving Assistance, System Forensics, Optimization, Recommendation, etc. We work with internal partners at various Bosch business units to transfer our ideas and solutions into future products. We also actively collaborate with leading groups in academia and industry to promote research ideas and publish research findings in internationally renowned conferences and journals, e.g., NeurIPS, KDD, ICML, ICDM, SDM, ICLR.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will passionately drive and further advance innovations in the field of artificial intelligence, such as deep learning, generative AI, reinforcement learning and their applications to emerging areas such as explainable AI, knowledge graphs, recommendation systems, multimodal learning, and generative modelling. The work includes conducting advanced research and development of novel algorithms and conducting experiments to bring innovation ideas to products. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Define and conduct cutting-edge research and engineering projects in AI, including knowledge graphs, recommendation systems, explainable AI, reinforcement learning, generative modelling and multimodal learning
  • Work with an international team of experts to transfer the results of advanced research to Bosch business units
  • Benchmark, validate and test research ideas on large-scale datasets
  • Summarize research findings in high-quality paper and/or patent submissions

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent (must be a current student or recent graduate – less than 1 year)
  • Strong theoretical background and research experience in machine learning and applied AI technologies
  • Hands-on experience in deep learning and/or AI systems, with focus on at least two of the following areas: representation learning, recommendation systems, large language models, time series analysis, and information extraction
  • Programming proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow/Keras, PyTorch, HuggingFace, etc.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Publication record in top venues in machine learning / AI, e.g., NeurIPS, KDD, ICML, ICDM, SDM, ICLR
  • Familiarity with C or C++

Excellent problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills

The U.S. base salary range for this intern position is $45.00 – $65.00 hourly. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, type of degree, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, type of position, job location, etc. Your Hiring Manager can share more details about the specific salary range for this position during the interview process.
