Scrum Master III – Data and Analytics

BASIC PURPOSE: The Scrum Master will provide servant leadership and play a key role in the definition, implementation, and ongoing improvement of cross-functional scrum teams. This role will serve as the facilitator for multiple scrum teams to accelerate capability delivery, efficiency, and productivity. These teams partner closely with other technology teams and business subject matter experts to deliver reporting and analytics solutions. The Scrum Master will be responsible for leading continual transformation as well as promoting accountability and transparency across all levels of the organization. They will serve as the point person responsible for understanding the larger development picture of each sprint, bridging the needs of project management, business stakeholders, product development and support.
We are seeking a Scrum Master to support the Enterprise Data & Analytics teams, which includes Database Administrators, Data Engineers, and BI Developers. The Scrum Master will support the full product lifecycle, including product development, validation, maintenance, and support of enterprise-scaled technologies such as Snowflake, SQL Server, SSRS, Tableau, and Power BI. These teams may support multiple product lines simultaneously. The Scrum Master will work closely with development teams and business stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and consensus on overall priorities and resource utilization.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guides and coaches development teams on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
- Lead development team(s) as a mentor, coach, and facilitator to develop self-organizing, high-performing teams. Work to remove impediments and keep the team moving forward without interruption or distraction.
- Facilitate scrum ceremonies – Sprint planning, grooming, daily stand-ups, sprint demo, retrospectives, and feature planning.
- Work with Product Owners and Subject Matter Experts to support release planning, leadership visibility, appropriate prioritization, and to maintain a healthy backlog prepared for execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new feature functional designs, functional requirements, limitations, and implementations of new initiatives.
- Clearly communicate organizational impediments to leadership. Contribute to weekly status updates outside of scrum ceremonies.
- Maintain relevant metrics to help the team understand their progress, capacity, and work distribution.
- Bring ideas from professional facilitation, coaching, conflict management, mediation and so on to help the team become a high-performance team. Champion continuous improvement activities to increase productivity
- Allows for open dialogue and productive solutions for resolving conflicts
- Maintain a portfolio of projects, enhancements, and maintenance activities.
- As needed, assist in release planning and deployment activities including production smoke testing, training documentation, change management and post-deployment support.
- Apply baseline understanding of performing data imports/exports, standard API’s and other common application development concepts to technical and functional discussions.
- Contribute to visual design and creative process while accounting for functional design and technical capabilities.
- Proven track record of building strong relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to earn their trust, confidence, and respect.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Business, Technology or relevant work experience.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certifications are a plus but not required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a Agile Scrum team with role as Scrum Master or Product Owner preferred.
- Agile methodology experience including Scrum or Kanban frameworks.
- Familiarity with software development tools (Azure DevOps/VSTS, BrowserStack, etc.) and MS Office Suite. AHA Roadmaps or other portfolio management tools are a plus.
- Experience working with distributed and hybrid teams
