As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Technology and Software Development department, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.
Job Description
The Risk Quantitative Development (RQD) Model Implementation team helps modelers implement their models into production. Our activities include perform hands-on coding primarily using CPP, python and Pyspark to implement complex regulatory or risk models in production. This team is also responsible for validating output of models with modeling team before it can be implemented in production environment. Other functionalities include creating reports and dashboards for data management, model execution and governance.
The candidate must be a talented programmer with the skills listed below and a pro-active problem solver with someone who can collaborate with. In addition, the candidate must exhibit a thorough understanding of model implementation, data structures, data manipulation, distributed processing, application development, and automation. The candidate must have a solid understanding of consumer financial products, data systems and data environments, and processes that are necessary for the implementation of Risk and Finance models.
Job responsibilities
• Develop, test, and maintain data and analytics needed for risk and finance models
• Process analysis and process improvement,
• Create and maintain technical documentation,
• Contribute to the group’s knowledge base by finding new and valuable ways to approach problems and projects.
• Deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines
• Manipulate and summarize large quantities of data
• Understand the consumer lending lifecycle, including loan origination, sale/servicing, default management/loss mitigation
• Manage multiple deliverables to different business groups and ability to build stronger customer relationships.
• Collaborate with the appropriate individuals (LOB users, Subject Matter Experts, Architects, DBAs, etc.) to design and implement the appropriate solution
• Working with System administrators, users, and other development team to manage enhancements and issues
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on full stack development concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Need 6+ years of hands-on experience in Pyspark, Python and AWS.
- Proficient in linux based system, shell scripting and automation.
- Proficient in coding in one of more languages
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, applicant resiliency, and security
- Experience using big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, EMR, etc.)
- Working knowledge of AWS products such as: EC2 Compute, S3 Storage, AWS Networking & Content delivery (VPC, Route 53, ELB, etc.) Identity & Access Management, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Cloud Formation, Auto Scaling, Cost, EMR, Sagemaker and Usage Reports.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of the data eco-system, both current and future data trends
- Knowledge of CPP programing language is added advantage.
