Purpose of Job
The AML/ATF department within Compliance is responsible for managing the Bank’s AML/ATF risk through implementing and monitoring effective controls. The Senior Data Analyst role is a multi-faceted one. Responsibilities may include ensuring our organization’s adherence to regulatory standards through advanced data analysis, modelling, mining, and automation techniques. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide valuable insights, drive process efficiencies, and contribute to enhancing our compliance strategies. The environment is often fast-paced and requires effective time management of multiple tasks and projects.
The Work!
- Rule Implementation, Testing, Validation and Documentation: Develop and maintain advanced data rules that help identify suspicious activities and patterns related to money laundering. Create predictive rules that enhance risk assessment and detection capabilities. Conduct rigorous testing and validation of rules to ensure accuracy and reliability. Create and maintain detailed documentation for all rules, including data sources, methodologies, assumptions, and rule parameters.
- Tools Development: Create and enhance tools, scripts, and applications to facilitate data analysis, reporting, and compliance monitoring. Develop user-friendly interfaces and solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Automation: Design, implement, and maintain automated workflows and data pipelines for efficient data collection, processing, analysis, and quality control checks. Implement automation solutions to streamline AML compliance procedures.
- Reporting: Generate comprehensive reports and dashboards to communicate findings, trends, and compliance-related insights to stakeholders. Develop visualizations that effectively convey complex data in a clear and actionable manner.

- The position requires the incumbent to be a self-starter and make sound decisions as efficiently as possible to ensure that data models are developed and implemented as per the Bank’s internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work independently and perform under pressure and within tight time constraints.
- The incumbent must have a solid understanding of the internal Bank systems, strong attention to detail and record management skills.
- Effectively manage assigned responsibilities and communication with the Business Units.
Accountability!
- Responsible for internal tools development and analytics to support model development and implementation in a timely manner.
- Responsible for analysis, documentation, development, operationalization, and integration of AML data models.
- Maintain a current understanding of money laundering and terrorist financing issues, including policies, procedures, regulations, industry best practices, criminal typologies and developing trends to provide support and direction to business units.
Let’s talk about you!
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 4+ years of proven industry experience as a Data Analyst, focusing on AML compliance or the financial services industry preferred.
- 3+ years of extensive experience in SQLs, NoSQLs, or MongoDB
- Strong expertise in data modelling, data mining, and statistical analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis tools such as Python, SQL and data visualization tools such as Power BI.
- Preferred experience with Microsoft Power Platform applications (Power App, Power Automate, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience in designing and implementing automation solutions using programming/scripting languages.
- Preferred knowledge of AML regulations, financial crime risk assessment, and compliance procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Preferred experience with machine learning techniques and tools
- Strong communication skills, including presenting technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated individual who can work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical thinking and decision-making abilities
- High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).
