Job Description

Position Summary

The BI Developer is responsible in developing the BI solutions such as a self-service dashboard by engineering data pipelines and workflows, translating business requirements into technical solutions with hands-on skills in visualizations. You communicate with various stakeholders such as the Business units, marketing department, BI functions, support functions and other teams in Data and Analytics.

Role and Responsibilities

Stakeholder management

  • Collaborate with Business Owners, Data engineers, Business Analysts and Data Scientists to align business requirements with data
  • Map requirements and projects from stakeholders, including Business Divisions, Marketing Channel experts, and Marketing Strategy teams.
  • Establish collaboration with European and global teams working on BI and Analytics projects
  • Evangelize the data-driven decision-making to the stakeholders while communicating in a plain and intuitive language so that stakeholders easily follow even the sophisticated and technical concepts.
  • Train and guide stakeholders how to use BI tools and solutions

Data Visualization and reports creation

  • Create and maintain the automatic reporting work processes (Sales, marketing, Ops, etc)
  • Manage the automated/self-serving data visualization projects by building the foundation layer for dashboard reporting.
  • Convert data into a suitable graphic format including – dashboards, graphs, charts, and reports using BI tools (Power BI)
  • Develop and manage BI extension tool for user interaction, such as PowerApps
  • Automate reporting in the BI tool via paginated reports in PowerBI or PowerAutomate
  • Robotic Process Automation in generating the standards marketing performance reports
  • Handling ad-hoc report or data requests

Data Engineering

  • Collect and connect data from different sources according to a business’s needs, use cases, potential exploitation and deployment, and technology possibilities: GCP, Azure, and local servers.
  • Model raw data into clean, tested, and reusable datasets, make it easier for business analysts and other stakeholders to view and understand data in DB, with a data engineer or standalone
  • Apply various and automated transformations (ETL, ELT) to different data pieces to ensure they correspond to given tasks
    removing inaccurate or corrupted data
  • Perform (and Guide juniors) maintenance and troubleshooting activities for data engineering and BI tools.

Data infrastructure and governance support

  • Support Data warehouse governance and access management
  • Recommend strategies to improve performance and capacity of BI tools.
  • Support and advise in developing security and authentication standards for the department and users.
  • Maintain accurate and complete technical architecture documents.
  • Support in defining BI standards, guidelines and best practices for business groups and technical teams.

Your team

You will be part of the Central Data Analytics team in Schiphol, Netherlands. We are providing marketing and business analytics solutions as well as the consumer, market, and business insights. You will be part of the BI team, one of the critical pillars of Data & Analytics success at Samsung. Your team consists of data engineers, BI & visualization developers, and closely works with the Advanced Analytics team.

 (Requirements)

As a BI Developer you have the following qualification(s):

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Business Information Management, or an equivalent study
  • 5+ years of experience working in BI, Dashboard development, or Analytics
  • Proven Technical Experience in ETL and relational data base management, and data modeling using the following tools: Python, SQL, Big Query
  • Hands-on skills in data visualization tools (Power BI/ Tableau/Looker), preferably PowerBI.
  • Knowledge and hands-on skills in data engineering, API, and cloud computing (GCP, Azure, and Databricks)
  • English proficiency
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, and forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to all levels within the organization
  • Excellent networking, project management, and organizational skills
  • Excellent OA software skills such as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint

Preferred qualifications

The ideal BI Developer recognize themselves in the following profile:

  • Skills in PowerApps and PowerAutomate are a huge plus
  • Skills in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Web scraping are a huge plus.
  • Knowledge in Statistics, Econometrics and Machine Learning is a huge plus
  • Knowledge and hands-on skills in Machine learning engineering are a huge plus
  • Experience with SQL performance tuning and E2E process optimization
  • Experience with Airflow
  • Experience with designing and implementing real-time data pipelines
  • Strong knowledge in one of the coding languages, preferably Python
  • Experience with working with GIT
  • Experience in managing one’s own Git tool (Github/Azure Devops/Gitlab) pages
