Job Description
Job Purpose

This is done by deploying key digital transformation programs (KDPs) across our affiliates requiring best practice Data Governance.
As the Senior Data Analyst at Pernod Ricard Africa & Middle East, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the integrity, quality, and security of our data assets. You will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to develop and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures that enhance data management practices across the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Data Quality Assurance: Establish and monitor data quality metrics and standards. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify data quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Governance Framework Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Data Stewardship: Serve as a point of contact for data stewardship initiatives. Support data owners in defining data definitions, classifications, and ownership responsibilities.
- Policy Implementation: Assist in the development and dissemination of data governance policies and procedures. Ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Data Cataloging: Develop and maintain a comprehensive data catalogue that includes metadata management, data lineage, and data lifecycle management.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business units to promote data governance best practices and ensure understanding and adherence to data policies. Provide training and support as needed.
- Analytics and Reporting: Analyze data governance metrics, prepare reports and visualization to communicate the effectiveness of data governance initiatives. Provide insights to senior management to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaboration: Partner with Tech and data engineering teams to ensure data governance is integrated into data architecture and development processes.
Key Competencies and Experience
Knowledge:
1. Data Governance Principles:
- Understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM), policies, and best practices.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., POPIA, GDPR) and industry standards related to data management.
2. Data Management Practices:
- Knowledge of data quality management, data lineage, and metadata management.
- Understanding of data architecture and database management systems.
3. Statistical Analysis:
- Proficient in statistical methods and techniques for analysing data quality and trends.
4. Data Privacy and Security:
- Awareness of data privacy regulations and security measures to protect sensitive information.
5. Tools and Technologies:
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, SASEG, Power BI).
- Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica).
Skills:
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyse complex datasets, identify trends, and derive actionable insights.
- Problem-Solving: Proficient in troubleshooting data quality issues and developing effective solutions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings to non-technical stakeholders clearly.
- Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Detail Orientation: Keen attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and quality in all analyses and reports.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis or data governance, with a strong understanding of data management principles.
- Proficiency in Advanced Excel, SQL, and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and tools, such as Collibra, Informatica, or similar.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity and security.
- Big Data, machine learning, GenAI tools would be an advantage.
