Role Summary

As part of the Digital Transformation team, you will be helping us build the best shipping data platform and reporting, enabling us to provide accurate and timely insights to the business and our clients. As a key bridge between the data team and the wider business you will be responsible for translating requirements in impactful reporting and insights.  

What you’ll be doing

  • Using large sets of complex data to drive actionable insights that intelligently enhance internal processes and customer-facing products
  • Develop proof of concept algorithms, models and metrics
  • Present results back to the team and non-technical stakeholders, so they are easy to understand.
  • Improve data accuracy and completeness of our existing solutions
  • Build and maintain reporting dashboards in PowerBI
  • Champion the development and sharing of knowledge within a team of analysts
  • Work collaboratively with the Digital Transformation team to enhance our data and tools
  • Champion a data-driven approach to decision making and development.
  • Support the development of other Analysts in the team and across the business.
  • Ensuring all relevant documentation is up to date

Other requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of successfully juggling multiple, competing priorities.
  • Competent in a programming language (especially SQL or Python)
  • Strong BI tooling experience (Tableau, PowerBI etc)
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Ability to adjust communication to the audience, choosing visualisations and narrative that influence decisions.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic, driven and a desire to learn.
  • Ability to work to tight delivery timescales and to take on new information working with a remote team.
  • Experience supporting more junior team members on projects.
  • Ability to translate business objectives and customer needs into work proposals that deliver change.

  • Experience of the shipping, aviation, or finance industry
  • Experience working with Azure and/or Databricks
  • Experience working with PowerBI
