Job Description:

Are you a passionate analytics professional looking to leverage your talents to improve the client experience at a major Canadian company? If so, Sun Life is looking for a Senior Data Analyst, Client Experience Insights and this might be the next role to develop your analytics career. 

 

Reporting to the Manager, Data Analytics, the Senior Data Analyst will support the CXO Marketing & Journey Analytics teams in their journeys to become more data savvy. The role will focus on leveraging integrated data from various sources to help stakeholders make key decisions, drive client-centric value and increase our client index scores. You will help the team by, but not limited to, mining data for business insights, analyzing and interpreting trends using statistical tools and techniques, reporting on business performance and merging front end survey and web data to back-end sales data.   

 

What will you do? 

 

  • Support analytic work from requirements specification, data gathering, analysis to presentations in order to solve business problems. Be the analytic resource for the Marketing & Journey Analytics teams 

  • Deliver actionable insights that are easy to interpret and rich with information 

  • Merge front end survey and web analytics data with back-end source data to highlight our client journeys from beginning to end 

  • Draw out business insights from analytical output and work with team leads to put together business recommendations 

  • Put together effective presentations of findings and desire to present to multiple levels of stakeholders 

  • Automate recurring tasks to free up capacity. Find efficient ways of working 

  • Leverage internal training, peers and other sources to continue to grow capabilities 

  • An active contributing member to the analytics academy to help foster and grow the data science community at Sun Life 

 

What will you need to succeed? 

 

  • 5+ years working with data (i.e., quantitative analysis experience, including handling, manipulating and analyzing data and creating analytical reports) 

  • Comfortable writing complex SQL queries to extract and integrate data from multiple database sources 

  • Expert using Python/PySpark to work with data, with the flexibility to use both languages as we transition from one to the other 

  • Experience with AWS Stack, especially with S3, Glue, Athena, Trino and with BI tools like Tableau and Quick sight. 

  • Experience with Adobe analytics or the ability to self-learn these tools in role 

  • An effective and concise oral and written storytelling and communication skills 

  • Ability to work as a team to help deliver multiple projects with courage in managing expectations of team leaders 

  • Ability to document work 

  • BSc in statistical, mathematical, or technical field (i.e., computer science), Bachelors in Analytics or MMA 

 

What will be nice to have? 

 

  • Past experience in life insurance/wealth management, or other financial services industry (e.g., retail banking, credit card, re-insurance and casualty insurance) 

  • Understanding of predictive and prescriptive techniques (i.e., regression, decision trees, deep learning etc.) 

  • MSc preferably in a statistical, mathematical, or technical field (i.e., computer science) 

  • Experience working with unstructured data 

 

Unique Requirements

Must be able to attain Canadian Reliability Security Clearance (administered by submitting fingerprints to the RCMP, who then conduct min. 5 year history checks)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
