About the role:
The Senior Data Analyst, Global Internal Audit (GIA) will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing analytics related to internal audits throughout the Company (including IT, financial, operational, compliance, consulting, and investigative analytics). In addition, this role will support Finance analytics needs related to planning, development, and reporting as well as developing new continuous monitoring activities at BSC. These continuous monitoring activities will be transformative for how GIA will do its work, reducing manual audit procedures and leveling up auditors to be strategic change agents.
The ideal candidate will bring persistence, curiosity, and creativity and apply them to a variety of business problems. A successful senior analyst will generally iterate and solve most problems without assistance, but will clarify and agree scope, consider and incorporate feedback, and communicate quickly when stuck.
Key responsibilities will include:
⦁ Maintain, enhance, and deliver key analytics to GIA management and audit team to help inform and develop field strategies
⦁ Lead new continuous monitoring projects, partnering with financial and operational auditors to brainstorm ideas and ensure coverage against previously performed audit procedures
⦁ Develop solutions to a variety of complex problems, while exercising sound judgment and professional skepticism
⦁ Collaborate with Finance, IT, and end-users to establish and periodically review user access to GIA – DA projects on Tableau Server, Microsoft SharePoint, and Alteryx Server
⦁ Support GIA management in assessing risk based on key business trends and risk ratings available from our audit management platform, AuditBoard
⦁ Perform detailed data analysis on assigned projects by achieving each step of the audit data analytics lifecycle: Acquisition, cleansing, profiling, hypothesizing, solving, and visualizing
⦁ Be a good citizen data scientist – Conform to team standards, company platform guidelines, and general best practices for dashboards, workflows, and other technologies
⦁ As needed, perform financial/operational or IT audit procedures in accordance with IIA and department standards:
⦁ Achieve audit objectives with audit lead and Fin/Ops manager guidance
⦁ Partner with management to develop appropriate corrective actions
⦁ Ensure workpapers are complete, accurate, and timely produced
Distribution of work time in this role:
⦁ About 60%: Building new and maintaining existing Alteryx workflows, Tableau dashboards, and related infrastructure. This may include:
⦁ Creating continuous monitoring scripts
⦁ Wrangling datasets for audit teams
⦁ Confirming and explaining the meaning behind a visualization
⦁ Adjusting a tax workflow
⦁ Ad hoc analysis for a specific investigative or business purpose
⦁ About 10%: Attending and performing a financial/operational or IT audit
⦁ About 10%: Documenting personal and team workflows and visualizations
⦁ About 20%: Personal development, networking, and participating in organizational activities
Required Qualifications:
⦁ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or related degree
⦁ 2 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
⦁ Knowledge of Tableau, HANA, Alteryx, Microsoft VBA, and/or SQL
⦁ SAP experience
⦁ Medical device industry experience
⦁ 3-5 years of experience
⦁ CPA, CIA, Alteryx or Tableau certified
