Job Summary
The Company
Tetra Laval is a privately held multinational corporation with headquarters in Pully, Switzerland, providing innovative systems that improve the efficiency, quality and safety of food production, processing and packaging. Tetra Laval International (TLI) is responsible for the central corporate functions for the group, such as Treasury, Corporate Finance, Reporting, Risk management, Customer Finance & Tax. TLI has staff based in Switzerland, the UK, the Netherlands, and Singapore.
Our Strategy
We are embarking on a major transformation to become more data driven and we are looking for an enthusiastic individual with 5 to 6 years industry experience as a Data Scientist or Senior Data Scientist to help drive that change. This opportunity will embed you directly with decision makers and an experienced team of data specialists.
The position will be based in Windsor, UK.
What you will do
- Apply your skills and expertise in statistics and machine learning to help solve real world business problems.
- Through experimentation and evaluation of statistical and machine learning models you will make a notable contribution to TLI’s data driven business transformation journey.
- Work with large internal operational datasets and leverage on external data sets to enrich the internal data and enhance your models results.
- Implement tools to monitor and analyse model performance and data accuracy.
- Communicate your models results and provide your recommendations to key decision makers and stakeholders in TLI.
We believe you have
- Strong understanding of math statistics such as distributions, statistical testing, and regression.
- Proficient in using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistical methods such as regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modelling, clustering, decision trees and neural networks to solve business problems.
- Must have significant experience in applying statistical modelling and machine learning in industry.
- Proficient in statistical programming languages such as Python to manipulate and draw insights from large data sets.
- Experience visualizing your statistical modelling/machine learning results in Power BI.
- Experienced and an advocate for good software engineering best practices including design patterns, unit testing, code reviews.
- Experience in using software versioning tools and in the best practice usage of these.
- Experienced in the deployment of machine learning models, the candidate must be able to demonstrate a coherent end to end approach for testing and delivering a model.
- Must have experience deploying statistical/ml models in Microsoft Azure, experienced in using Azure ML mandatory.
- Must have experience using SQL to query relational databases including SQL Server and/or MySQL.
- Experienced and interested in mentoring/guiding junior data scientists in the application of data science techniques.
- MSc/PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Financial Engineering, Statistics, or related fields.
- Work on his/her own initiative, manage time effectively and work accurately and quickly under pressure.
- Have excellent written and spoken communication skills.
