We are seeking an experienced Senior Healthcare Analyst to plan, manage, and execute on a wide variety of projects in a rapidly changing professional services environment, ranging from custom health and healthcare data analyses/visualization to organizational business intelligence strategy design. Our projects are unique and varied, as is the ideal candidate’s experience and interest. 

This is a rewarding and challenging role that requires a proactive and consultative mindset with exceptional proficiency across a diverse blend of skillsets: technical data concepts and programming, clear communication and strategic thinking, data translation and storytelling, writing, and ability to easily and comfortably zoom in and out of analyses at a macro-level down to row-level data validation. This role requires immense attention to detail, an impeccable customer service attitude and growth mindset, and hands-on data extraction/analysis skills. 

 This is a remote role, with hybrid opportunities available for candidates in the Albuquerque, NM area. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work collaboratively with external clients to assess drivers of quality, engagement, and utilization 
  • Identify and quantify potential areas of clinical quality, financial, technical, and operational improvement 
  • Extract, analyze, and interpret health and healthcare data to address questions regarding medical economics, population health management and population/public health insights and disparities, health and economic outcomes, reimbursement modeling, quality and quality score improvement, optimizing business operations and strategy, and analytics product design 
  • Interface with executive leadership, subject matter experts, end users, technology vendors and various stakeholders to ensure cross-functional buy-in 
  • Establish highly effective and efficient operating models within complex projects 
  • Conduct day-to-day ad hoc analyses as needed for our clients 
  • Ideate, develop and document new processes (such as SQL-based) for ad-hoc data extracts and analysis; develop and maintain reports; identify issues including defects in logic or data quality; capture business requirements including data definitions 

Qualifications: 

  • 4+ years’ experience in similar positions or a combination of various job roles that collectively address the skillset and experience requirements of this position 
  • BA/BS Degree, preferred in a quantitative field 
  • Prior health plan analytics experience with deep understanding of claims data, claims data fields and interpretations, and various reimbursement methodologies required 
  • Hands-on experience using and programming data and BI tools, data visualizations tools (PowerBI and Tableau), querying language (e.g., SQL), statistical software such as R and/or Python, as well as general health service research and outcomes reporting-analytics 
  • Ability to learn and engage effectively with new (an often proprietary) technologies—such as EMRs, population health vendor tools, financial systems, and quality reporting tools—to explore and extract data, identify the data story from existing data plus the data gaps, and use this to propose strategic recommendations to clients’ senior leadership 
  • Understanding of the “business of healthcare” is required 
  • Comfortable leading internal discussions and external client meetings, with a focus on summarizing and effectively communicating complex data findings to a wider audience  
  • Ability to contribute to client-facing dialogue and help stakeholders understand data output while facilitating the development of analytical reporting solutions to meet sometimes vague business needs 
  • Leadership experience driving analysis strategy across the analytics lifecycle, with demonstrated attention to detail 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills  

Nice to Have: 

  • Experience with multiple business intelligence tools and data mining technologies 
  • Proficiency with SQL and/or SQL-based scripting languages 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up (or similar) environment 
  • Experience with understanding business context for analytics to help address performance issues, be able to identify and speak to drivers that impact business performance 
  • Able to navigate ambiguity gracefully and establish processes as needed 
  • Ability to create visually-compelling and user-centered presentations or interfaces 
  • Versed in a variety of technology stacks (Confluence, Jira, Trello, Google, AWS, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, open source, other proprietary healthcare vendor tools and EMRs, etc.)
