Job Description
Europe Product Innovation is looking to hire a Senior Data Product Manager (DPM) who can drive alignment of data initiatives with business goals, supporting emerging payments products and AI led value added services, developed by the Product Innovation team.
Serving as the nexus between technical and business teams, the DPM translates intricate data insights into actionable business strategies. This role is pivotal in turning data into a competitive advantage, driving forward-thinking for new solutions in a data-rich environment.
The role will engage across all of the emerging product Solutions Teams of the hub, and the Geography Teams in the markets, as well as with other key functions such as Data Solutions, Global Data Office, Technology, Risk & Compliance. Thus the role requires a very high degree of cross functional collaboration and engagement.
What we expect of you, day to day.
- Drive data-driven insights for new use cases, propositions and product stories.
- Drive AI led product innovation initiatives across the product lifecycle.
- Align data strategy and objectives to new products on roadmap, and support sourcing of first, second and third party data requirements.
- Capture data requirements and integrate feedback for product refinements.
- Ensure data quality, security, privacy & regulatory compliance for new products.
- Partner data scientists and product managers in data collection, modeling and technical prototyping.
- Ensure Visa’s data risk, compliance and consent governance standards are applied as part of the product development process.
- Partner with finance, strategy, legal and other functions to define pricing strategy, pricing model, and incentives approaches, as applicable.
- Define the business case for funding, build internal support, design the execution roadmap and establish success metrics.
- Define, coordinate, and manage customer support strategy and execution.
- Develop guides and best practice tools for clients and partners to use during commercialization and support ongoing usage going forward.
- Support thought leadership for the overall data & AI Product Innovation vision, business plans and development roadmap.
This role will report into the Senior Director of Product Innovation, Europe and will be based in Berlin, with significant exposure to key stakeholders and leadership across Visa Inc. This position will require frequent travel to client sites and Visa locations in Europe.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience partnering with technologists using Agile or other expedited design and development methodologies preferred
- Visa and financial/payment industry knowledge is a must-have.
- 15+ years of experience, including at least eight years of experience leading data product management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expert in data & business analytics, with knowledge to discern patterns, trends, and anomalies, to make data-driven decisions.
- Expertise in data tools like Tableau or PowerBI to visualize and interpret data, and familiarity with platforms like Hadoop or Spark that handle big data processing.
- Though not expected to code, foundational knowledge in languages like Python, R, or JavaScript is preferred.
- Firm grasp of basic machine learning concepts. This includes understanding training datasets, model evaluation, and the implications of different algorithms.
- Familiarity with SQL, relational and non-relational databases, and how data is stored, indexed, and retrieved.
- Understanding data protection regulations, encryption methods, and best practices in data storage.
- Knowledge of system integrations, cloud platforms, and how different components of a product interact.
- Understanding of API protocols, how they’re designed, and their integration points, with respect to enabling seamless data exchange between systems.
- Self-starter with a bias toward action and proven track record for successfully developing, building, launching and commercializing technology products that delight customers.
- Possess a high level of professionalism and leadership skills to build business relationships, trust and respect with business partners and suppliers.
- Strong team player, self-motivated and the ability to work independently at coordinating cross functional activities, obtain buy-in and elevate issues at critical junctures appropriately.
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation necessary. Active listening skills required.
- Proven project development experience.
- A degree in technical field (Engineering/CS, MIS/CIS, etc.) and/or business from a top school strongly preferred.
- Comfort working closely with Engineering and/or Systems Architects required.
