We provide technology and services that help people and companies address their problems and challenges, and realize their possibilities, aspirations and dreams. We apply new thinking and ideas to create simpler, more valuable and trusted experiences with technology, continuously improving the way our customers live and work.
Who We Are:
HP is searching for a visionary Data Science Senior Manager to lead the development and implementation of our next-generation Email & Push Notification Optimization platform. This platform leverages cutting-edge data science techniques, with a focus on contextual bandits and reinforcement learning, to orchestrate the delivery of millions of daily marketing emails and push notifications. You will play a pivotal role in building a unified RL model to encompass all four of our notification channels: daily sales emails, daily push messages, customer behavior-triggered emails, and customer behavior-triggered push messages.

What You Will Do:
- Lead a team of data scientists and engineers to design and implement a unified reinforcement learning engine to power our Email and Push Notification platform.
- Work closely with marketing, HP Store, category and sales stakeholders to understand customer needs and translate them into actionable data science solutions for omnichannel notification delivery.
- Oversee the integration of contextual bandit and reinforcement learning models within the platform to optimize send decisions and content delivery across all four notification channels.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure seamless integration of the platform.
- Stay at the forefront of data science advancements relevant to email and push notification optimization, particularly in the areas of contextual bandits and RL.
- Foster a data-driven culture within the team, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing around contextual bandits and RL applications.
- Communicate complex data science concepts, especially those related to contextual bandits and RL, to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Manage team performance, set goals, and provide mentorship and career development opportunities.
What You Will Need:
- Master’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field (PhD preferred).
- 8-10 years of experience leading data science projects with a proven track record of successful implementations, particularly those utilizing contextual bandits and/or RL.
- Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms (classification, regression, recommendation systems, etc.) and extensive experience with contextual bandits and reinforcement learning concepts.
- Experience with A/B testing methodologies and statistical analysis.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve ambitious goals, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; preferably with experience in technology industry
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Databricks) a plus.
- Programming proficiency in Python, R, and SQL.
Bonus Points:
- Experience developing data science solutions for marketing optimization, specifically with contextual bandits and RL.
- Experience with natural language processing (NLP) for email content personalization.
