What you’ll be responsible for:

As the Senior Data Engineer for the Digital Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE), you own the data pipelines/transforms and data warehouse that is used to inform digital marketing strategy, evaluate campaign performance, optimize digital acquisition efforts on Okta’s corporate website(s).

 

What you’ll do:

  • Create and maintain SQL models to transform raw data into report-ready data marts.
  • Partner with the digital analytics team members and internal stakeholders on the design, deployment and continuous improvement of the scalable data platform that ingests, stores, and aggregates various datasets, including data pipelines, platforms, and warehouses, and surfacing canonical digital analytics data to both internal and customer-facing applications.
  • Partner extremely closely with digital analytics team members and internal stakeholders to understand the evolving needs of the business; provide consultation on how to answer complex business questions with data
  • Serve as the domain expert on data modeling, data pipelines, data quality and data warehousing
  • Designing, building and maintaining data ETL/ELT pipelines to source and aggregate the required data for various data analyses and reporting needs, as well as to continually improve the operations, monitoring and performance of the digital analytics data warehouse
  • Developing integrations with external systems to source, qualify and ingest various datasets
  • Enabling data analytics and visualization tools to extract valuable insights from the data to enable data-driven decisions
  • Representing the digital analytics CoE to help steer the Okta enterprise data strategy with business leaders, enterprise architects and other Okta analytics groups
  • Owning the digital analytics data infrastructure track that consists of BigQuery, DBT, GitHub, and Tableau

 

Must have:

  •  4+ years of professional data engineering experience.
  • Self-starter who takes ownership, gets results, and enjoys moving at a fast pace
  • Ability to tackle complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate across remote teams, share ideas and present concepts effectively
  • Proficiency in communicating complex technical information to non-technical audiences

 

  • Advanced experience in SQL in big data warehouse systems such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, etc
  • Proficiency with the data transformation workflow tool, DBT
  • Experience with Fivetran or other ELT tools (e.g., Stitch, Supermetrics).
  • Experience with Cloud Services (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, etc)
  • Experience working with raw web analytics data (GA4 and/or Adobe Analytics)
  • Experience in data provenance and governance
  • Experience with version control (Github/Gitlab/BitBucket) and CI/CD software practices
  • Data Visualization/Dashboard development (ideally Tableau and/or Looker Studio)
  • Experience working with CRM data (preferably Salesforce)
  • Experience with B2B business; understand the B2B sales cycle and the nuances of associated data and reporting
  • General understanding of marketing technology (marketing automation tools, paid media platforms, data enrichment platforms etc.)
