Job Description

ICF is currently seeking an on-call Senior Child Welfare and Education Research Analyst with strong quantitative data collection, management, analysis, and visualization skills. In this role, you will contribute to teams conducting evaluation of several child welfare and education projects. You will be responsible for research design and quantitative data analysis, management, visualization, and reporting. You will also assist with instrument development, developing logic models, triangulating quantitative and qualitative data, and other related tasks.

The position is on-call and remote. 

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Child Welfare and Education Research Analyst will contribute to all phases of program evaluation with a particular focus on quantitative analysis. In this position, you will work with clients and project managers on the design of research and evaluation projects, identify and perform appropriate statistical techniques to answer research questions, clean and manage large data sets, and create data visualizations and engaging data reporting products. In addition, you will conduct quality control reviews of junior staff members’ data products. Candidates  should be proficient in multiple data management and analysis tools (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, Python, etc.) and must be able to work on projects with multiple tasks and sometimes-competing deadlines; be well-versed in research/evaluation methods and analytic approaches; and be able to maintain positive working relationships and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Areas of responsibility may include:

  • Partnering with teams to define key performance indicators and data reporting requirements

  • Developing data collection instruments and submitting these for IRB review

  • Building data infrastructure

  • Collecting, cleaning, and managing data

  • Identifying and implementing appropriate statistical methods, including propensity score matching, power analysis, and various methods of inferential statistics and modeling

  • Supporting quality assurance and other data management tasks

  • Creating user-friendly evaluation reports, data visualizations, and other data products to support staff and client data use

  • Monitor and report project progress in terms of activities, outputs/deliverables, and outcomes 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, math, economics, sociology, or other social science related subject

  • 5+ years of experience conducting quantitative data collection and management, research, or program evaluation

  • 5+ years of experience using  Excel and pivot tables, as well as standard statistical analysis software such as SAS, Python, or R

  • 5+ years of experience identifying and implementing appropriate techniques for descriptive and inferential statistical analyses

Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s degree in data science, statistics, math, economics, sociology, or other social science related subject

  • Experience working independently to develop innovative solutions to client data interests and challenges

  • Experience sharing lessons learned and building skills of colleagues

  • Prior work experience in a consulting environment

  • Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality, professional visualizations, presentations, reports and other data products

  • Demonstrated experience taking responsibility and ownership of project tasks

Professional Skills:

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities simultaneously, completing tasks on time and to high standards of quality

  • Solid team player with proven ability to manage competing priorities, perspectives, and stakeholder needs

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities

  • Excellent verbal, oral, interpersonal and written communication skills, including experience with developing and delivering presentations and technical writing

Pay Range – There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$63,511.00 – $107,968.00
