Job Description
Who We Are Looking For:The Senior Power BI Report Developer collaborates with the Application Development team to design, develop, and implement interactive and visually appealing Power BI reports and dashboards. This position is responsible for transforming raw data into meaningful insights that inform business decisions and drive organizational growth. This cross-functional role works in collaboration with multiple teams internally as well as external technology consultants. The Senior Power BI Report Developer serves as the internal expert regarding Power BI reporting technologies.
What You Will Be Doing at Woodard & Curran:
- Transform complicated business data into sophisticated reporting solutions to help inform internal stakeholders with meaningful insights that facilitate informed decision-making and efficient operations.
- Thoughtfully craft user-friendly custom centralized reports with a focus on usability.
- Develop, evangelize, and implement governance strategies for the Microsoft Power BI and SSRS reporting, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and industry best practices for the W&C information technology ecosystem.
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain complex Power BI reports and dashboards, using data from various sources such as SQL databases, APIs, spreadsheets, Dataverse, OneLake, and SharePoint.
- Create and optimize data models in Power BI, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in analysis and design sessions to understand client requirements and translate them into clear, intuitive, visually appealing reports and dashboards to enhance the end-user experience by employing best practices in data visualization and UI/UX design
- Perform unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure the quality and reliability of the developed reports and dashboards
- Stay current with the latest Power BI features/technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and provide recommendations of their implementation to enhance overall capabilities
- Participate in defining and overseeing data governance policies and administration of Power BI and related technologies to protect sensitive data and maintain privacy and data compliance

What You Will Need To Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years experience as a Power BI Developer or similar role, with experience creating insightful and impactful reports and dashboards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and Power BI Service
- Strong SQL skills for data manipulation, querying, and optimization
- Experience with data visualization tools, best practices, and UI/UX design principles
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Ability to independently or collaboratively design complex, visually appealing Power BI reports and dashboards to provide data-driven insights to clients
- Experience mentoring junior Power BI report writers in developing complex reports and teach best practices
- Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills to work effectively in a collaborative team environment (asks questions, eager participant in everyday discussions, shares necessary information, is an active listener)
- Understanding of data warehouse and data modeling concepts as they relate to business intelligence applications, as well as a solid understanding of data structures, databases, and APIs
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Adaptable team player who is willing to work in an environment where things are often changing and dynamic
- Effective task and time management skills
- Comfortable with collaborating in a virtual or hybrid environment (online video conference calls)
