SENIOR SPECIALIST- Solutions, Decision Science, HHDDA- Asia Pacific

The Senior Specialist- Solutions, Decision Science is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and optimization of data engineering and digital solutions to meet the organization’s data-driven needs. This role focuses on hands-on development, maintaining data quality, database configuration, software development, and enabling business intelligence through visualization and reporting. The Senior Specialist also plays a key role in ensuring efficient data pipeline operations and supporting information management practices. The Seniors Specialist also manages a team of 2-3 solutions architects and operationalizes everyday demand planning with IT team.

Key Responsibilities:

Upskilling, Digital-Data Engineering & Pipeline Development:

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to connect data across various data stores, applications, and business units, ensuring data readiness for analysis and reporting.
  • Perform data quality checks and remediate issues to ensure the reliability and accuracy of data used in digital projects.
  • Implement data integration strategies, ensuring efficient and seamless flow of data between systems.
  • Operationalise Continuous upskilling strategy of HHDDA, Asia Pacific team members to advance organizational goals, for Digital, Data and Innovation capability building

Database Administration & Configuration:

  • Configure and automate routine database administration tasks, including installation and maintenance of database software.
  • Monitor database performance, generate performance reports, and identify issues, proposing corrective actions to maintain database health.
  • Provide technical support for database-related problems and assist in optimizing database resources.

Software Development & Lifecycle Contribution:

  • Design, code, and test moderately complex programs and scripts, following established software development standards.
  • Participate in the software development lifecycle, providing input on design, implementation, and testing to achieve secure and efficient digital solutions.
  • Support software development projects by identifying issues and collaborating with team members to propose practical solutions.

Data Visualization & Business Intelligence Support:

  • Design and produce data visuals that effectively communicate insights, using appropriate visualization techniques and automation to ensure timely production.
  • Contribute to business intelligence initiatives by integrating data, conducting analysis, and supporting BI needs for specific operational and governance areas.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing data handling and business intelligence capabilities through process digitization and optimization.

Information Management & System Design:

  • Support the implementation of information management policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Create and document designs for system components and software applications, adhering to agreed modelling standards and established patterns.
  • Assist in identifying risks related to information use and recommend actions to address them, supporting overall information governance.

Digital & Data Engineering & Pipeline Management: Design and maintain complex data engineering solutions, creating pipelines that effectively integrate data across different data stores and applications. Ensure data quality by carrying out data checks and remediation activities. Database Automation & Information Governance: Develop tools to automate routine database administration tasks and monitor performance, addressing issues as needed. Support the implementation of information management policies to ensure compliance, audit controls, and risk mitigation. Software Development & Collaboration: Design, code, and test software programs using best practices and standards, collaborating in peer reviews to identify and solve issues. Contribute to optimizing software development lifecycle processes through automation and effective methodologies. Data Visualization & Business Intelligence: Apply various visualization techniques to create effective data visuals and support business intelligence initiatives by integrating data, analyzing needs, and recommending tools for optimal insights and decision-making. System & Application Design: Create detailed designs for software applications and system components, following standard approaches and resolving minor issues to ensure efficient development of digital solutions. Manage a team of 2-3 solutions architects.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE :

To be successful in this role, you will have strong experience in ideating and implementing 0 to 1 strategies with an early stage / growth stage startup/ entrepreneurial mindset, and an innate joy to celebrate and learn from failures.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Digital Data Capabilities with deep expertise in research, data engineering, data science data visualization, UX design.
  • Proficiency in tools like Python, Tableau, Qlik-sense, Spotfire, Power-BI, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of analytics, infographic design, and user experience principles.
  • Experience in data stewardship, data processes, data lineage, data dictionary maintenance, and data quality management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage incidents and operational risks effectively.
  • Budget management experience and familiarity with process compliance requirements.
  • Passion for Digital, Data, and Analytics tools and technologies. Deep understanding of Asia Pacific markets. Fluency in English, both spoken and written, with an ability to synthesize data/insights into actionable business recommendations backed by Structured problem-solving skills and analytical rigor
  • Capability to communicate, collaborate and drive adoption and change across a range of local, regional, and global functions, with the empathy and sensitivity for cultural differences and can rally teams to action and outcomes
  • Strong project and people management skills, with intellectual curiosity and the ability to create a vision as well as execute complex initiatives in matrix structures and a get things done attitude
  • Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, IT, MBA , or equivalent commercial experience and discipline
