Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager of Data Integration and Access and working with the Cloud Services Group the Senior Systems Integrator will lead the development and implementation of a Cloud Data and Analytics Platform for the Parks, Forestry and Recreation Booking Transformation project.
You will work with technical and security staff, business units and users to design and implement corporate-wide Technology Services strategies, architectures, design standards, guidelines and environments to support the City of Toronto’s Cloud Data Analytics Platform initiatives. In this unique role you will help set the course for and implement an operations model for developing, configuring, and sustaining a suite of cloud applications that support the City’s cloud data management and analytics goals.
In this role, you will manage the implementation, operations, service development and advanced troubleshooting of the overall health of the City’s cloud-based data platform services. As an ongoing administrator you will implement and manage the policies, processes and operations of the City’s cloud-based data platforms helping set the course for the City’s overall cloud data strategy and analytics vision.
Major Responsibilities:
- Design, architect, analyze and implement detailed plans and recommend policies/procedures regarding the Cloud Data Analytics Platform requirements. Special attention is required to ensure the City’s requirements for security, privacy and information management are met.
- Provide senior level support for the Cloud Data Analytics Platform environment, services and users including design, administration, configuration, security and privacy, account management, change management, capacity planning and licensing.
- Provide advice and consultation to business users and other technical staff to determine requirements, research solutions, evaluate alternatives, recommend policies regarding data integration, data security, network infrastructure, software, licensing and product acquisition related to Cloud Data Analytics Platform environment.
- Supports Cloud Services Group and the Cloud Data Environment team by monitoring operations, incidents, restoring service, and performing problem investigation and root cause analysis.
- Leads, facilitates and contributes to the design, creation, evaluation, development and sustainment of systems and standards, including integration architecture, security, performance, application development and migration.
- Leads solution configuration activities, including planning, co-ordinating and monitoring configuration meetings and workshops
- Leads solution rollout and cutover activities, including co-ordinating a pilot or simulation event, the hardware rollout, and go-live support
- Communicates effectively and in a timely manner to stakeholders, clients, project managers/leads and project steering committees of any business and technical decisions, actions, issues, and risks that may impact solution delivery, business processes, and technical support
- Identifies and analyzes current business processes and practices in the context of evolving information architecture, technology architecture and performance measures; prepares feasibility study and recommends overall technical solutions for business initiatives leveraging existing enterprise infrastructure investments
- Manages relationships with vendors and contractors throughout solution delivery and sustainment processes, including security, performance, integration, configuration and rollout activities.
- Informs and educates senior managers, business users and technology peers on technology trends, and the effective use of business and technology solutions and information management.
- Develops technical and application architecture, detail design and construction specifications for custom applications, related databases and necessary interfaces.
- Provides leadership in the evaluation, selection and recommendation of technical solutions and professional services; manages vendors and contractors in the overall solution delivery process.
- Develops, manages and reports on detailed operations and project plans as well as Capital budgets.
- Supervises, motivates and trains assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourages innovation in others.
- Provides consulting services regarding the planning of necessary applications, data definitions and information accesses to meet business and operational needs.
- Works with suppliers and consultants to ensure product availability to meet the business requirements.
- Provides assessments and recommendations of new technology trends on the effective use, acquisition and integration of technology by the City Leads the testing and quality assurance process. Creates and designs application testing processes to monitor system functionality.
- Ensures products are entirely functional.
Key Qualifications:
- Considerable experience with AWS Cloud services, including a suite of data platform tooling, AWS Control Tower, Security, and Network features.
- Extensive experience in IT Infrastructure and Operations with applied experience in an IT production, systems management or development environment.
- Extensive experience in analysis, design, and architecture working on diverse large scale information technology projects.
- Experience in implementing the AWS Secure Reference Architecture and certification as an AWS Solutions Architect would be an asset.
- Experience collaborating with Enterprise Architecture and Enterprise Application Solutions groups to translate business requirements into technical designs and solution specifications.
- Post-Secondary education in Computer Science/Engineering or a related discipline (or an approved equivalent of education and/or work experience).
- Knowledge of information systems security, risk management and/or IT-related function with emphasis on Information and Data Protection, Infrastructure, Identity and Endpoint Security, Security Intelligence and Analytics.
- Ability to plan and organize operational sustainment of business applications.
- Ability to supervise technical staff and coach internal business and technical teams.
- Knowledge of current and emerging information management concepts and technologies including agile development methodology, cloud-based solutions and services, web portals, data migration, business/data modelling methodologies, Enterprise Application Integration, business intelligence and decision support for a multi-tiered, multi-platform, network centric computing environment.
- Project management experience in all stages of complex information management projects would be an asset.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective relationship with corporate clients, external stakeholders and vendors.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation in the area of Occupational Health & Safety, Employment Standards Act, Accessibility (AODA), Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection (MFIPPA), and collective agreements in a supervisory capacity as it relates to the role.
