We are recruiting for Software Engineer for our Data Enablement team. It is a full-time Grade C role to be based in our GITC site at Chennai. 

 

As part of AstraZeneca’s Information and Data Enablement (IDE) capability we are seeking a Software Engineer to own the hands-on engineering of user interfaces, APIs, data models, and workflows (using BPMN, Groovy script, Camunda and other tools). This means accountability for the clarity & accuracy of diagrams, excellence of code & test-driven development, and collaborating with the Business Analyst, Project Manager, Scrum Master, and Tech Lead (Chennai-based principal engineer), to ensure effective day-to-day execution of a metrics-driven SDLC. 

 

You will need a collaborative delivery approach to be successful. We use Scaled Agile with standard-length program increments (12-14 weeks). Essential skills and experience 

  • Deep Understanding and practical knowledge of IDE’s e.g., Eclipse/PyCharm/IntelliJ. 

  • Deep Understanding and practical knowledge of Git (CI/CD mechanism for code develop, code review, and code push). 

  • Nice to have: working knowledge of data cataloguing tools like Collibra, BigID, data.world, Talend Data Catalog etc 

  • Proven knowledge in Scripting – (example – Python / JavaScript, Groovy, Camunda) and ability to write scripts and solutions agonistic of the programming language used (however prior experience in Python development and Groovy script is a plus). 

  • Hands-on experience in Database concepts and fair idea about how data gets stored in the backend and connecting them to the UI. 

  • Proven ability in converting a proposed design into an automated solution. 

  • Fantastic written & spoken English, interpersonal skills, and a collaborative approach to delivery. 

  • An enthusiasm for great documentation (e.g., high level designs, low level designs, coding standards, Knowledge Base Articles). 

  • Knowledge and experience of Collibra Data Governance platform. 

  • Knowledge and experience of one or more of the following: Java, JavaScript, Groovy, Python 

Desirable skills and experience 

  • Excellent Jira acumen including a proactive approach to status updates.  

  • Experience of Agile practices, preferably having been part of an Agile team for several years.
