Job Description

The successful candidate will be a full stack developer for a self-motivated individual with excellent software and data engineering skills and expertise in Java/Big Data technologies. The candidate will be extensively involved in hands-on activities including POCs, design, documentation, development, and testing.  The candidate should be a motivated self-starter and quick learner. 

  

This role will be part of Digital Marketing Experience, Benefits & Loyalty team in Value Added Services group at Visa.  

 

Responsibilities  

 

  • Develop well-designed, easily testable, secure, manageable and high performant code 

  • Have a passion for delivering zero defect code and be responsible for ensuring the team’s deliverables meet or exceed the prescribed defect SLA.  

  • Coordinate and participate in Continuous Integration activities, automation frameworks for testing and deployments etc. in addition to contributing to core product code.  

  • Adhere to Secured coding standards and develop code for high system performance.  

  • Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.  

  • Work on development of new products iteratively by building quick POCs and converting ideas into real products. 

  • Participate in code-review sessions not only as owner role but also in the reviewer role 

  • Use code generation capabilities like GitHub copilot to drive efficiencies in software development. 

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

6+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 4 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)

Strong experience with Big Data ecosystem like Hadoop, Spark, Map Reduce, Kafka, HBase or equivalent.

Strong in Core Java development concepts and design patterns.

Experience with both NoSQL and SQL datastores and their query languages like SQL

Experience in Build system, and in automating test suites using CICD pipeline.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.

Experience of working in Agile environment

Knowledge and experience working with Spring Boot/REST services is a plus.
