We are located on the Zukunftsmeile in Paderborn and are actively shaping the next generation of innovations. Our focus: practical research for mechanical engineering, automotive industry and related sectors. We develop intelligent products, production systems, services and software applications.
The department “Digital Engineering” deals with the central question of how complex systems can be developed in a data-driven and efficient manner. In addition to enhancing performance in engineering through the formal application of Model-Based Systems Engineering, we conduct research on the networking and management of product data using concepts such as the Digital Twin. Another focus is on socio-technical human-machine interaction using Augmented and Virtual Reality. Particularly in the field of Artificial Intelligence, we see great potential and are convinced that this topic will be central in the data-driven engineering of tomorrow.
What you will do
- Active participation in the development and implementation of innovative projects in the field of AI
- Participation in the conception and implementation of prototypes and tools to demonstrate the diverse application possibilities of AI technologies, e.g. with LLMs and/or AI agents
- Conduct literature research and analyze and prepare research results in the field of (generative) AI technologies
What you bring to the table
- You are studying for a Master’s degree in industrial engineering, computer science, business informatics or a comparable course of study
- You are characterized by an independent way of working and the ability to organize yourself well
- You are confident in written and spoken German and English and are able to express yourself scientifically
- You have a strong interest in Artificial Intelligence, especially in the innovative potential of generative models (LLMs such as ChatGPT), and have programming skills, preferably in Python and JavaScript
- Knowledge of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), fine-tuning of language models and AI agents such as autoGen from Microsoft or autoGPT is an advantage
What you can expect
- A position where you can drive the innovations of tomorrow
- A pronounced team culture with flat hierarchies is a given for us. That means: high appreciation and trust, a pleasant working atmosphere, shared lunches, and creative colleagues
- The opportunity to take on responsibility and participate in subprojects
- Flexible working hours and vacation aligned with semester schedules
- The opportunity for a home office arrangement, taking into account your professional and personal challenges
- Attractive employee discounts (Fraunhofer Corporate Benefits) for a wide selection of attractive brands
