Job Description

This position will be based in Whitehouse Station NJ and support Chubb’s Personal Risk Services (PRS) Auto, Personal Umbrella and Rec Marine section of the Actuarial Department. This group is responsible for providing the financial analysis necessary for Chubb to sustain profitability and maintain a competitive position within the personal lines market. Expect significant interaction with Product Management, Data Sciences, and IT, as well as contact with our Corporate actuaries, Underwriting, and Claims.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with other areas of PRS (ex: Product Management, IT, Data Sciences, etc.) to implement actuarial rating plans for Auto and Personal Umbrella using the “Radar Live” software application.
  • Collaborate with pricing actuaries to develop detailed rate level changes on a state by state basis. Quantify impacts of rate change proposals and communicate findings to management via clearly laid out reports, presentations and exhibits. Convert existing Excel based tools to Radar to enable more efficient rating analysis and implementation.
  • Evaluate internal systems for efficiency, problems and inaccuracies. Develop and maintain protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning actuarial data.
  • Execute exploratory data analysis to extract meaningful insights around the PRS portfolio; evaluate various algorithms and techniques for model development.
  • Special projects as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or similar technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of related experience (insurance experience preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency in a programming language such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Experience in navigating complex data structure and writing SQL queries involving multiple tables, joins, subqueries, and aggregations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide clear and concise verbal and written communications of analyses, financial results, and work products.
  • Highly detail oriented with excellent organization skills along with the ability to maintain adequate documentation and record keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and recommend/formulate innovative solutions when confronted with new problems.
