Aerospace & Defense (A&D) is a broad field encompassing the design, development, operation, and maintenance of aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, and related defense systems. It plays a pivotal role in national security, transportation, scientific exploration, and technological innovation.
Senior Fellow in this domain, possess knowledge and experience in fields of Aeronautics & Astronautics (Aircraft Design & Manufacturing, Spacecraft Design & Exploration, Flight Operations & Air Traffic Management); Defense Systems & Technologies (Weapon Systems: Design, Command, Control, Robotics & Autonomous Systems); Advanced Materials & Manufacturing (Composites & Lightweight Materials, Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing), Advanced Propulsion Systems) and have solved problems using AI/ML methodologies such as:
- Design Optimization: AI algorithms optimize aircraft and spacecraft designs for improved performance, fuel efficiency, and structural integrity
- Predictive Maintenance: AI analyzes sensor data to predict equipment failures before they occur, reducing downtime and costs
- Autonomous Systems: AI enables autonomous flight operations, unmanned vehicles, and intelligent decision-making in combat scenarios
- Cybersecurity & Threat Detection: AI strengthens defense systems against cyberattacks and identifies potential threats in real-time
- Data-Driven Decision Making: AI analyzes vast datasets to inform strategic decisions in military operations and resource allocation
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Fellow, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work with business leaders to identify problems that can be resolved using artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies
- Actively participate in pre-sales activities to demonstrate our capabilities and relevant use cases and understand client’s needs and problems
- Participate in the Discovery phase of a project to uncover real needs and possibilities, specify in detail the scope of the project, and use domain expertise to propose architecture for solutions
- Provide accurate time and resource estimates for a project and define the major milestones
- Identify potential risks and challenges on a project and how to overcome them
- Act as a subject matter expert on projects to navigate them across the finish line while ensuring high-quality execution and deliverables
- Propose and participate in the selection of the team for a project
- Communicate and present to the client the progress of projects
- Ensure AI ethics and other SecOps principles are properly implemented on projects
- Contribute to the improvement of Xenon’s assessment and delivery process
- Contribute to developing Xenon’s domain capabilities, content, and competitiveness
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in AI roles or other relevant fields (AI, ML, Data Science)
- Deep experience in the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industry and practical applications of AI/ML technologies in a number of its subfields
- Very strong technical skills in technologies relevant to the field, and a deep understanding of underlying concepts and mechanisms (math, algorithms, models, statistics) needed for producing optimal and performant solutions
- Proved experience in scoping, designing, and architecting complex and large-scale solutions, estimating milestones, timeframes, and resources accurately
- Proved experience in leading projects and teams to a successful outcome
- Strong business acumen and ability to influence key stakeholders to make informed decisions
- Strong communication and presentation skills to be able to distill complex information and concepts into clear messages that resonate with clients of various technical backgrounds
- Curious, creative, outgoing personality with wide horizons committed to success and inspired by excellence
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Artificial Intelligence domain (highly preferable)
- Background in Research activities and published papers
- Skills in writing domain-specific content e.g. whitepapers, blogs, etc.
