Within our Product Family Digital Commerce & Advisor we help BASFs sales teams sell more via digital channels. Within our product family the team “Product Information Systems” is building and supporting solutions that enable our customers to discover and explore our products in our several digital channels. We are seeking an experienced AI/ML engineer like you to join our team of AI enthusiasts. In this role, you will leverage cutting-edge and proven technologies to reshape the way we execute business processes and innovation. If you are passionate to maximize value generation from latest developments in AI and have a strong background in ML engineering, and practical experience in realizing solutions, don’t hesitate to contact us!

Responsibilities and Key Outcomes 

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-based solutions including Generative AI and large language models to address challenging use cases in different domains, from automating tasks and business processes to mastering complexity, and driving innovation.
• Validate the feasibility of new technological developments and methods to maximize value contribution and ensure efficient and safe operation.
• Work together with platform and product teams, integrating your AI developments in existing workflows and solutions.
• Continuously improve and optimize AI models to enhance their accuracy, scalability, optimize computational and cost efficiency, and compliance with rules and standards.
• Stay up to date with knowledge and expertise and share it with colleagues to promote a learning culture of AI-driven innovation across BASF.

Job Requirements 

Education and work experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer science, Software Engineering or comparable from an accredited college or university is required 
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in designing and building machine learning solutions into production systems
   

Technical & Professional Knowledge (mandatory)

• A solid knowledge of modern machine learning techniques, including practical application at scale and experience with variety of machine learning frameworks and python libraries (e.g. TensorFlow, Pytorch, spacy, scikit-learn, genism, etc..)
• Sound programming skills in Python and Java to use state-of-the art document databases (like MongoDB) and search technology (like elasticsearch) to create scalable state-of-the-art applications.
• Able to work and operate large-scale and industry grade systems in cloud environments
• Believer in the DevOps approach to build successful IT solutions with focus on high-quality content delivered to our business
• Problem-solving attitude, excellent analytical thinking, and strong communication skills.
   

Technical & Professional Knowledge (additional plus/nice to have skills)

• Knowledge of Angular, React, etc. to build quick demos for businesses
• Know-how in Kafka, Docker, GIT, CI/CD and other technologies
