Your Specific Responsibilities:

“Supervisory employees” are those who spend the majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees’ work, and who have the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action, including all employees serving as supervisors, administrators, and directors.

 

This position is responsible for managing the flow of work through the Data Services Section by ensuring that projects and assignments are completed with the highest level of integrity, timeliness, accuracy and quality.

 

Coordinate efforts related to user enablement, including support resources, engagement events, connecting users within the agency, and analytics promotion. This includes assisting business units with identifying opportunities for applying data analytics for improved decision making and problem solving.

 

Manage adoption of best practices as it relates to data management and data governance within the Bureau and advise other agency business units on best practice adoption.

 

Ensure that data analytics projects are delivered on time and within budget by effectively managing relationships with a wide range of groups, allocating and utilizing resources in an efficient manner, and maintaining a cooperative, motivated and successful team.

 

Provide guidance to the Tableau Server Administrator (IT) on necessary server settings, including: user, group, project and data structures. 

 

Promote and certify Tableau content and measure and monitor the use of analytics within the Tableau server.

 

Support internal bureau project and data management.

 

Ensure that the Workforce Statistics and Economic Research data delivery system (Florida Insight) and related databases are up to date and in compliance with the Workforce Information Grant (WIG) deliverables.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of data quality and data govornence principles.
  • Knowledge of data collection principles and methods.
  • Knowledge of project management.
  • Ability to supervise people and projects.
  • Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to data management and data analytics.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions

 

 

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. 

Minimum:

  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
  • Travel may be required.

Preferred:

  • Experience supervising or managing a team.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience in data analytics and data management.
  • Experience with Tableau, specifically with Tableau Server and Tableau administration.
  • Experience with R, Python, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience with Alteryx or similar Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools.
  • Experience designing and managing relational databases.

 

Pay:  $90,000 – $95,000

The Work You Will Do:        

Under general direction of the Bureau Chief, the Data Services Administrator will manage the Data Services Section, including the Data Management, Federal Reporting, and Program Performance units and serve as the Bureau of Workforce Statistics and Economic Research (Labor Market Statistics) customer liaison for data analytics, management and governance across the agency.

The mission of the Bureau of Labor Market Statistics (LMS) is to produce, analyze, and deliver timely and reliable labor statistics to improve economic decision-making.  The LMS Data Services Section is responsible for managing the economic data produced and acquired by LMS staff and creating useful data products that benefit Floridians and help drive economic policy.  The Data Services Section also aids numerous other DEO program areas with data analytics and business intelligence, helping to turn data into useful information.
