The Artificial Intelligence Scientist on the product development team develops our AI suite of products. This team is responsible for building production ready AI products that are optimized for speed, reliability, and scale using PySpark and Python. This role is a combination of machine learning, software development and machine learning engineering.


This is a remote position, but must be able to work Central Time or Eastern Time hours.


Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of new ML techniques and algorithms through data analysis and proof of-concepts
  • Develop production level machine learning software using PySpark and Python
  • Convert proof-of-concepts and feature requests into production ready code.
  • Optimize and transform existing software for speed, reliability, and scale.
  • Integrate state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms as well as the development of new
    methods
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, data engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify gaps and issues in the AI product suite and propose solutions
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including design, coding, unit testing, and documentation for both new and existing pieces of software.
  • Drives innovation by fostering open, high energy, collaborative environment; lead participation in innovation, publish papers and patent disclosures.

Qualifications:


Required:

  • Bachelor’s, master’s or PhD in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, statistics, operations research, applied mathematics or a related field with 2+ years’ experience in data science, machine learning, or software engineering required.
  • Expertise in statistical programming and data analysis using languages like Python and PySpark , with a strong understanding of software engineering principles.
  • Experience with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, and other deep learning libraries.


Preferred:

  • Experience with time-series forecasting, predictive analytics and/or signal processing.
  • Industry experience in retail and consumer packaged goods (CPG) is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of statistical methods, probability theory, linear algebra, optimization techniques, and numerical analysis.
  • Ability to apply advanced statistical models and methods to real-world problems.
  • Expertise in data manipulation, cleaning, and preprocessing techniques for large datasets.
  • Expertise in evaluating and validating machine learning models, including metrics for performance assessment, cross-validation, and robustness testing.
  • Ability to conduct rigorous model validation and interpret results in the context of business or research objectives.
  • Proficiency in machine learning and deep learning concepts and techniques.
  • Experience with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, and PyTorch.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), as well as knowledge of cloud-based tools for data storage, processing, and model management.
  • Strong skills in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software developers, and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including through presentations, reports, and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, but also a co-operative team player.

Salary:
USD 104400.00 – USD 156600.00 Yearly

Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
