Associate Director- Analytics Engineering:

We are seeking a strong, highly energetic and collaborative leader to join our Company’s Human Health Digital, Data & Analytics (HHDDA) organization and play an active role in our Company’s Human Health transformation journey to become the premier “Data First” commercial biopharma organization.

As an Analytics Engineering Lead, you will be part of the HHDDA Commercial Data Solutions team, providing technical/data expertise and leadership to drive the development of analytical data products and capabilities to enable data science & analytics use cases. In this role, you will leverage deep knowledge of data assets/domains used in the commercial/marketing analytics space – with focus on real-world data (e.g. EMR, Claims, Payers), digital data, Veeva data and other commercial data – to develop best-in-class data pipelines and products, working closely with data product owners to translate data product requirements and user stories into development activities and lead engineers throughout all phases of design, planning, execution, testing, deployment and delivery.

Your Specific Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Lead design and implementation of analytics ready data products using the most up-to-date technologies and software/data/DevOps engineering practices, aligned with enterprise strategies and architecture

  • Lead teams of analytics engineers, data architects for driving work planning and coordinate/oversee execution for prioritized use cases

  • Partner with data science & analytics teams to drive data modeling and feature engineering activities aligned with business questions and utilizing datasets in an optimal way

  • Apply deep data domain expertise and business acumen to ensure that all specificities and pitfalls of data sources are accounted for

  • Build data products based on automated data models, aligned with use case requirements, and advise data scientists, analysts and visualization developers on how to use these data models

  • Manage copies/movement of data optimally, leveraging data mesh / data fabric principles, architecture, and modern tech stack

  • Apply strategic thinking in developing analytical data products with reusability, governance and compliance by design

  • Drive the strategy and implementation efforts to build domain layer and use case layer for analytics data products

  • Work with data stewards and product owners in maintaining data catalogs, defining data quality measures and governance frameworks

  • Build framework-based approach to maintain and apply business rule for each domain and use cases

  • Establish trust with data by overseeing and implementing robust and proactive data quality measures and enable reporting of data quality

  • Experience with Stakeholder management across multiple geographies.

Education:

  • B.S., M.S. or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or related field

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 14 years of relevant work experience in the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry, with demonstrated hands-on experience in analyzing, modeling and extracting insights from commercial/marketing analytics datasets (specifically, real-world datasets, eg. Claims, EMR, labs, Digital, Sales, CRM, etc)

  • 5+ years of experience in leading analytics projects

  • Strong knowledge of the commercial/marketing analytics data landscape and key data sources/vendors

  • High proficiency in SQL, Python and AWS

  • Strong experience in building data models for data science and visualization/reporting products, in collaboration with data scientists, report developers and business stakeholders

  • Experience with data science/machine learning use cases and solutions, including feature engineering

  • Excellent understanding of data management processes like Data Mash, Data Fabric, data lake, etc.

  • Experience with cloud-based (AWS) data management platforms and typical storage/compute services (Databricks, Redshift, etc.)

  • Experience with modern data stack tools such as Databricks and low-code tools (e.g. Dataiku)

  • Experience and understanding of data visualization technologies (e.g, PowerBI)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to quickly establish productive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders

  • Leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to provide subject-matter expertise, set direction and lead/motivate teams

  • 5+ years of experience in Team and People Management experience to lead medium to large team members

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in analytics use cases focused on informing marketing strategies and commercial execution of pharmaceutical products and vaccines

  • Experience with Agile ways of working, leading or working as part of scrum teams

  • Certifications in AWS and/or Databricks or other modern data technology stack.
