Join AstraZeneca’s IT team as an Associate Director – Universal Service Experience (USE) Platform Architect. The USE Enterprise Platform is AstraZeneca’s global Employee Virtual Assistant employing Movework’s Generative AI Copilot and a pre-trained AZ Large Language Model.  This role is pivotal in defining the integration strategy leveraging AstraZeneca’s strategic enterprise platform integration standards. You will be working closely with the USE Platform Owner, Enterprise Architects, the Creator Studio development team and the Enterprise Platform Service Management and support teams. Your role will involve creating and maintaining a view of the USE platform’s architecture and roadmap of technical change, showing deep technical abilities and expertise in consultative leadership, business strategy and governance.

Accountabilities:

As the USE Platform Architect, you will lead the solution design and provide architectural guidance throughout the USE platform engagements. Your responsibilities will include leading the definition, design and build of USE Enterprise Platform, working within larger enterprise transformation programmes, identifying key enablers to enhance the USE Enterprise Platform and employee empowerment, supervising technical debt, managing diverse teams within an inclusive team culture, embodying standard process architecture and development principles, establishing strong governance processes and policies for the USE Enterprise Platform, defining guidelines for USE Enterprise Platform usage, overseeing the implementation of new features, modules, and enhancements within the USE platform, collaborating with technical teams to integrate the USE platform with other systems and applications, owning the design and development of the large language models, aligning platform governance processes and policies with AstraZeneca’s global AI/ML Governance, engaging with partners to understand their requirements and ensure the USE Copilot meets their needs, defining and implementing data quality management processes, having responsibility for security compliance & administration of the platform, owning the development of innovative market solution offerings based on the USE platform, guiding USE Platform design, providing technical mentorship in platform development generative AI / Copilot virtual agent and integration solutions, advising on configuration and Creator Studio coding standards, supporting remediation of configurations not aligned to USE platform standard methodologies, assessing instance health by conducting a MoveWorks Generative AI/ML results scan, being responsible for instigating and chairing the Technical Design Authority Board.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field

  • 3 – 5 years proven hands on experience in Solution Architecture, Technical Thought Leadership and Enterprise Platform management

  • Demonstrable experience in the delivery of large-scale technology transformation projects

  • An understanding of AI and Machine Learning / Deep Learning Principles and architectures including an understanding of the AI/ML in Bias, Hallucinations and data privacy.

  • A proven understanding of cybersecurity principles as they apply to Generative AI/ML architectures

  • A good understanding of the training and fine tuning generative models and the supervised, unsupervised and transfer AI learning techniques and their inclusion in system architectures

  • An understanding of the roles languages such as JavaScript, Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, ScikitLearn or similar play in the development of Generative AI/Deep learning systems

  • Demonstrable understanding of the wider IT infrastructure and how it works with Copilot and generative AI/ML technologies

  • Have previous hands on experience of architecting and supporting AI solutions as APIs for use in applications.

  • Experience of architecting integration-centric solutions requiring an understanding of API integrations, RESTful services, MuleSoft and web technologies.

  • Ability to analyse sophisticated data requirements and business processes, identify gaps, and propose effective solutions using the USE platform, with proven awareness of the importance of data science in Generative AI. Data cleansing, deduplication, augmentation and modelling.

  • In-depth understanding of knowledge management principles, article indexing techniques, grounded data and data governance practices.

  • Experience of architecting enterprise cloud hosted systems involving AWS and MS Azure Cloud Services and a broad understanding of their architectures/services

  • Demonstrable experience of Architectural Thinking practices in a complex enterprise organisation

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, meaningful, and varied environment

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM), HR Service Management (HRSM) processes with ITIL v4 foundation or higher certification.

  • Understanding of and certification in Enterprise Architectural frameworks e.g., TOGAF 9+

  • Understanding of Scrum (Agile) development process

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related fields

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field

  • Solid understanding and experience with the MoveWorks’ “Copilot For The Enterprise”, “Service Management for the Enterprise”, “Creator Studio” and large language models and their training.

  • Certification in MoveWorks fundamentals and experience with generative AI copilots and large language models is highly desirable.

  • Training in and an understanding of Generative AI/ML and Deep Learning Models providing technical context to the USE Copilot and its potential issues.

  • Programming skills in languages such as JavaScript, Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, ScikitLearn or similar is of benefit.

  • Strong knowledge of data science techniques and tools, including statistical analysis and data visualisation.

  • An understanding of knowledge management practices and their importance to an global organisation

  • Relevant certifications in ServiceNow, IT4IT, SAFE Agile or related areas are a plus.

  • Knowledge of Lean & Agile Ways of Working

  • Expertise in Agile Software Development techniques and Methodologies.

  • Understanding of microservice architecture, design patterns.

  • Good Story telling capability

  • Have demonstrable People/Process Management skills

  • Proficient in communicating with and managing key business and technical stakeholders
