The role of the Business Intelligence Engineer is to build dashboards and reports based on the requirements of strategic and regulatory initiatives within the Non-Financial Risk and Compliance area.
Your day to day
Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:
- Responsible for building high performant models, reports and dashboards in the BI Platform Cognos Analytics within ING Group Services
- Understand business requirements to make sure that the reports and dashboards are fulfilling the stakeholders’ needs
- Using Agile SCRUM principles to deliver, maintain and extend the data analytics & reporting platform
- Proactive in formulating and managing processes and standards, as we are working in a global context, for a global BI Platform
- Proactive in identifying potential risks and issues, which will cause deviations from global standards and impact the performance of the reports
- Up to date with the latest industry standards and trends in the area of Data Management and Business Intelligence
- Report on the progress and communicate the dependencies and impediments
What you’ll bring to the team
- Experience:
- 3+ Years of experience as BI Developer, building data models, reports and dashboards
- Experience in dealing with large quantities of data (and performance tuning)
- Very good SQL knowledge and experience with Oracle databases is a must
- Good background knowledge of modelling and ETL Tooling so that you can understand the whole context
- Experience with pair programming
- DWH experience would be considered a plus
- Strong technical background on data and reporting
- Agile – Scrum methodology experience
- In Banking industry is considered a plus
- Tech stack/ knowledge:
- Mandatory: IBM Cognos Analytics and Power BI, Oracle database, Data Lake and Big Data concepts, database concepts, data modelling, database design, data analysis, reporting and performance tunning
- Nice to have: Python, ETL
- Soft skills:
- You have strong communication, presentation, networking and influencing skills.
- You are a self-starter with a good ability to learn new content quickly and transfer it.
- Consulting mindset including an ability to think about Data Management in a way that is abstracted from how business functions currently operate.

- Foreign languages: English (advanced)
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an IT related field
