Role Summary

We are seeking a talented and motivated Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer to join our team. As a BI Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our business intelligence solutions, ensuring the availability of reliable data and analytics to support decision-making across the organization. You will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, design data models, and create impactful reports and dashboards using modern BI tools.

Core Duties/Responsibilities

– Design, develop, and maintain BI solutions, including data models, reports, and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.

– Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and understand data requirements, translating them into effective data visualizations and insights.

– Utilize BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker to build and manage interactive reports and dashboards.

– Optimize data retrieval and report performance by implementing best practices in BI tool configuration, data modelling, and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) or similar query languages.

– Work with data engineers to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data across various systems and reports.

– Maintain and update the data and reporting infrastructure to accommodate growing data needs and new business requirements.

– Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to BI tools and data visualization/reporting pipelines.

– Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy policies across all BI initiatives.

– Provide training and support to business users, enabling self-service BI and data exploration.

– Continuously improve BI processes, including the automation of reporting tasks and the adoption of new technologies and practices.

Skills, Capabilities and Attributes

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills and behaviours:

Qualification / skills required:

– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.

– 3+ years of experience working as a BI Engineer, Data Analyst, or in a similar role.

– Strong experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms.

– Proficiency in SQL for data querying, transformation, and analysis.

– Experience with data modelling techniques, including star and snowflake schemas.

– Knowledge of DAX, MDX, or similar query languages for report development and performance optimization.

– Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google BigQuery, Databricks)

– Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.

– Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

– Experience in integrating and working with data from multiple sources (e.g., databases, APIs, flat files).
