About the role

Join the Enterprise Data Office, where we lead our digital transformation by improving data quality and integrity to accelerate housing affordability. As the Bilingual Senior Specialist, Metadata Management, you will support the design, development, implementation, maintenance, evolution and enhancement of the Information Management (IM) functions (information, data, knowledge and records) at CMHC. You will help the organization realize the full value of its structured and unstructured data and information assets and evolve the corporate information taxonomy. You will also implement and manage an effective data/information governance model and frameworks to address the safe, effective and efficient sharing of information across CMHC.  

  

What you’ll do: 

  • Lead the research, design, execution of enhancements, changes, and fixes to data governance and data management platforms and the integration of business systems, in collaboration with stakeholders. 
  • Act as key subject matter expert both within the team and cross-functionally, on data governance, metadata management, key performance measurements, data repositories and provide insight developed through comprehensive analysis and research. 
  • Support the establishment of directives, standards, guidelines, and procedures. 
  • Provide functional/technical guidance and direction to create alignment and adherence to data/information governance policies and standards for stakeholders. 
  • Responsible for development & production of metrics and reports that provide insight into the health of the data governance application. 
  • Provide data support and training to business stakeholders on new capabilities and processes. 
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data governance. 

 

What you should have: 

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field such as computer science or data analytics, and a minimum of 7 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Privacy, Data Analysis and Engineering, and/or Data Management processes and technology.  
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience leading projects related to application or report development and enhancements, creating reports using tools such as PowerBI and performing data analysis using SQL or Python.  
  • An experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing data governance tools (Collibra, Informatica, or other) and technologies to support data governance initiatives effectively. 
  • An experience overseeing the creation and maintenance of metadata repositories to facilitate data discovery, understanding, and usage. 
  • A strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices. 
  • An experience documenting standards and processes to support data governance operational activities. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, critical and systems thinking. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills. 

 

It would be great if you also had: 

  • A Collibra Ranger certification and an ability to develop workflows and automate processes in Collibra. 
  • A proficiency with running profiles and building data quality metrics in Informatica. 
  • An experience developing programs that leverage external APIs with a strong understanding of leading practices. 
  • A data engineering and architecture experience.
