Job Title: BQ/GCP Data Engineer
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled BQ/GCP Data Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructures using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery. This role requires expertise in data processing, data modeling, and cloud technologies to support data-driven solutions across various business units.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines from various data sources into BigQuery.
- Create and maintain data models that supports analytical and reporting needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Implement data governance practices ensuring data quality and compliance with industry standards.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines performance and reliability.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in data engineering and cloud technologies.
Technical Skills:
1. Software Requirements:
- Proficiency in GCP services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage).
- Experience with ETL tools and frameworks.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
2. Data Engineering Skills:
- Strong knowledge of SQL and scripting languages (Python, Bash).
- Experience with data modeling and designing data warehouses.
- Understanding of data transformations and data pipeline architectures.
3. Cloud Architecture:
- Knowledge of cloud concepts and GCP architecture.
- Experience with setting up and managing cloud resources.
4. Data Security:
- Familiarity with data encryption, access controls, and compliance requirements.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering or related field.
- Prior role in designing and implementing data solutions in a cloud environment.
- Experience in the financial industry is highly desirable.
Day-to-Day Activities:
- Develop and maintain data pipelines to ensure data is accessible and reliable.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to integrate data for analysis and reporting.
- Regularly review and optimize existing data processes for performance improvements.
- Document data flows, pipelines, and architecture designs for internal reference.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss project updates, challenges, and solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Certifications in GCP or data engineering are a plus.
