Position Specific Description

The Retail Gas Pricing Analyst will be responsible for developing, implementing, and distributing sophisticated models and model-derived costing for various rate structures to aid in customer acquisition and renewal decision-making. The role requires continuous maintenance and improvement of pricing models to reflect changes in underlying costs and risks. Additionally, the analyst will conduct sophisticated data analysis and provide decision support to key business units to ensure profitable and efficient pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
1.    Model Development and Implementation:

  • Develop, implement, and distribute models to determine rate structures for customer acquisition and renewal decisions.
  • Maintain and continuously improve existing pricing models to adapt to changes in costs and business risks.

2.    Data Analysis and Customer Profiling:

  • Analyze customer characteristics using regression analysis and other statistical techniques to identify trends and shifts impacting pricing strategies.
  • Create models to support profitability analysis for individual customers and customer groups.

3.    Support for Business Units:

  • Conduct customized quantitative analyses to support various internal teams (Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Operations) in areas such as customer commodity, credit, and operational risk management.
  • Provide key decision support on estimating costs, setting prices for customers, and forecasting revenues, costs, and consumption within the Retail business segment.

4.    Commercial Pricing Team Coordination:

  • Participate in the design, execution, and management of the commercial pricing team’s models for mass pricing, balancing complexity with business efficiency.

5.    Communication and Reporting:

  • Provide clear and insightful presentations and reports to communicate model results and pricing analysis to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all analytical methodologies and findings are thoroughly documented and presented concisely.

 

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in pricing analysis, ideally within the energy sector.
  • Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis and modeling techniques, including regression analysis.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools such as SQL, R, Python, SAS, or similar software.
  • Excellent communication skills to present complex information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
