Business Intelligence Analyst – Strategic Analytics, Hospital Operations
As a Business Intelligence Analyst on the Strategic Analytics, Hospital Operations team, you will be part of the Data Shared Services tri-institutional community of developers and analysts who work collaboratively to meet the data and analytics needs of NewYork-Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medicine, and Columbia. This position will focus on developing analytics tools and data processes that foster data driven decision making across the tripartite. This position will work with a range of data types and domain areas, with the primary focus on serving the needs of the COO and executive stakeholders to improve hospital operations. This position will work hand in hand with the five other Strategic Analytics core teams as well as the Data Platform, Data Science, and Data Outreach teams to support their efforts
The BI Analyst will be responsible for collaborating with stakeholders and other BI team members to understand data needs across multiple different hospital settings and clinical service areas. The BI Analyst will write code (e.g. SQL, Python, R, etc.), build dashboards, and conduct analyses to provide information and insights that contribute to sound strategic planning, decision-making, goal setting, and effective performance measurement for the hospital operations. The BI Analyst will share development and process knowledge with other analysts to eliminate redundancy and continuously build a core of analytical strength within the organization.
Ideal candidates are invested in the mission of improving the operations of large academic medical center healthcare systems and able to articulate their interest in using data to help accomplish that mission. Innovative thinking and a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies will be crucial to success in this role. The ability to conceptualize, integrate, and leverage different data types and sources for the purposes of a single business objective is a must.
Preferred Criteria:
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI
- Experience with SQL or other relational database structures
- Previous healthcare experience, including inpatient operations
- Ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- 2-3 or more years of previous work related experience
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to distill and present analytic results to various audiences through different methods of visualization.
Required Criteria:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience

Salary Range:
$59,000-$89,000/Annual
