Business Intelligence Analyst
Offering a salary of up to £45,000 depending on experience, plus excellent company benefits.
Full time, permanent hybrid role, based from either our Thurrock or Brentwood branch.
About the role:
We are looking for a talented and proactive Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving performance improvements, operational efficiency, and enhancing the customer experience. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our operations teams, leveraging data to solve real-world challenges and deliver measurable results.
In this role, you’ll work with operational teams to understand their challenges and transform raw data into actionable insights that support data-driven decision-making. Acting as a key bridge between data and operations, you’ll develop and deliver impactful Power BI dashboards that provide insight and value to both the business and its stakeholders.
Your day-to-day will involve creating and maintaining dynamic reporting solutions, defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and optimising processes to support the business in making informed decisions. You’ll also have the chance to innovate by identifying opportunities to automate workflows, enhance reporting tools, and implement new ways of working that improve overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Key elements of the role will involve:

Collecting, organising and interpreting data from various sources, including databases, data lakes, surveys and reports.

Analyse data to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that support operational decision making and drive efficiency.

Developing and maintaining data models and dashboards to present clear and engaging visualisations.

Creating and presenting data-driven stories and reports to inform and influence operational teams and senior management.

Collaborating closely with operational teams to proactively identify challenges, measure performance and deliver practical, data-driven solutions.

Conducting root cause analysis and recommending strategies to improve service quality and operational efficiency.

Supporting predictive modelling and forecasting.

Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data analysis, BI and data visualisation.

To support this, the business intelligence team play an active role in all stages of the data lifecycle from architectural design to generating actionable insight.

Role Criteria:

Proven experience in a business intelligence or data analysis role, within social housing, housing maintenance or property management. With a strong focus on operational performance and efficiency.

Proficiency in data visualisation tools (Power BI or similar) with experience creating dynamic dashboards and reports.

Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, Pyspark, R).

Knowledge/experience of data science solutions (ML, statistical analysis).

Strong data storytelling and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex datasets into clear and actionable insights for diverse audiences.

Knowledge/experience of social housing, including a strong understanding of social housing regulations, housing maintenance operations, housing maintenance regulations and sector specific challenges is highly advantageous.
The successful candidate will bring an operational mindset, with the ability to understand business processes, collaborate effectively with operational teams, and deliver solutions that drive performance and efficiency. With a strong focus on attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, self-motivated approach, you will play a critical role in driving innovation and continuous improvement within the business.
You will excel in data visualization and data storytelling, translating complex information into clear, impactful insights and reports. With strong technical skills in Power BI, you will create and maintain dynamic dashboards that empower teams to take data-driven actions and improve outcomes.
As Mears has a footprint across the country there will be a degree of travel expected to attend meetings and training.
