About the role:
Amazon is looking for an outstanding Business Intelligence Engineer to join the FOAA’s(Finance Operations, Accounting & Analysis) Production Planning Team. Business Intelligence Engineers also continuously learn new systems, tools, and industry best practices to help design new studies and build new tools that help our team automate, and accelerate analytics.

Responsibilities include:

• Simplify and automate reporting, and other data-driven activities; build solutions to have maximum scale and self-service ability by stakeholders.
• Improve back-end data sources for increased accuracy and simplicity.
• Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
• Understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources and know how, when, and which to use and which not to use.
• Conduct deep dive analyses of business problems and formulate conclusions and recommendations to be presented to senior leadership.
• Support business with time-critical tactical data analyses.

KTLO activities include:
• supporting the analyst community with efficient queries for data retrieval
• addressing bugs identified in production tools/reports/
• analyst education regarding data sources

Tools used include:
• SQL, Python
ETL tools (internal)
• Excel, VBA
• Quicksight for visualization

Key job responsibilities
A Business Intelligence Engineer in this job is expected to:
• create data pipelines where data is available but not easily accessible by the business analyst team
• generate new KPIs to help solve business problems
• build user friendly reporting solutions
• analyze and clean data

A day in the life
Your day will be split between longer term project work and Keep The Lights On (KTLO) activities. Project work is focused on:
• continuous improvement projects targeted and increasing automation and reducing churn for the analysts we support
• Report/Tool generation to meet new business needs
• Data pipeline creation aimed at increasing analyst data access.

Basic Qualifications

– – Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, or in a similar field
– – Relevant experience in finance, business intelligence, engineering consulting or related highly-analytical field
– – Highly proficient in Structured Query Language (SQL)
– – Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel · Knowledge & experience using OLAP technologies and BI Analytics, hands-on experience building and managing data tables

Preferred Qualifications

– – Experience with BI tools: OBIEE, SAP BW, Cognos, Business Objects, Hyperion, BPM, Tableau, Microstrategy
– – Experience designing and driving basic statistical analysis (distribution, hypothesis testing, etc.)
– – Japanese communication skills in workplace setting
– – Solid communication skills and team player
– – Experience leading small to medium sized process improvement projects
– – Strong organizational and multitasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities
– – Experience in a Manufacturing, Distribution Center or Logistics processes
