Business Intelligence, Senior Associate
Job Description
Join us as we work to create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.
We are looking for an Analytics Senior Associate to join our Client & Network Analytics team. Our team provides a wide range of stakeholders with insight into the efficacy of the critical services we deliver on behalf of our clients. These actionable insights enable a systemic improvement in the overall performance of our service delivery. When we create new insights that improve our delivery, there is an opportunity for a significant impact on our clients – removing noise and freeing them to do what matters: delivering patient care. But enough about us; let’s talk about you! You are a curious teammate, someone who loves to explore, learn, and use data to make things better. You are excited to frame business problems, dig through data to find solutions, and then craft compelling visualizations to bring your findings to life. You help others in the business understand the story the data tells. We work closely with partners across the business, so your ability to collaborate with multiple teams is also important.
The Team:
We are passionate about creating visibility into business performance, telling an actionable story, and helping business teams drive impact for athena and most importantly, our provider customers. We use an agile-based framework to execute our work and ensure we are always focused on the most important and impactful needs of the business. Technology-wise, we increasingly live in the cloud using Snowflake, Tableau, Sigma, and other tools for loading, extracting, transforming, and visualizing our data to provide solutions.
Job Responsibilities
· Extract data from a variety of sources to provide visibility into performance, deliver in an actionable format, and ensure data quality/integrity
· Develop the back-end and/or front-end components of tools and visualizations that surface insight into the health of our operational processes; build root cause drill-in reports
· Consult with partners to define the success of initiatives by aligning business objectives with existing metrics or newly proposed metrics
· Independently plan and execute on work with strategic input and tactical guidance from team leadership and stakeholders
· Based on a combination of business needs and candidate skills, team members typically focus on a functional concentration in either back-end engineering, analysis/visualization, or leading a scrum team as a product owner
Typical Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree required; Degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in quantitative disciplines such as Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or Mathematics preferred
· 8+ years of professional work experience in a data analytics environment
· Strong working knowledge of business intelligence and data warehousing tools, techniques, and technology; experience designing, building, and maintaining data warehouse schemas and objects to support data reporting, metrics, and analysis
· Strong understanding of relational databases, BI tools, ETL processes, OLAP technologies, and the ability to write code to extract data
· Experience navigating in a UNIX/Linux environment
· Expert-level SQL skills, as well as experience using at least one additional data-extraction, scripting, and/or programming language (e.g., R, JavaScript, Python)
· Experience with Data Visualization/BI Tools, such as Tableau or Sigma
· Ability to effectively create reports and synthesize data into digestible and actionable information
· Proven track record of influencing across a range of audiences, both internal and external, and across a range of cohorts
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong negotiation and consensus building skills
· Experience working in an agile scrum environment
About athenahealth
Here’s our vision: To create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.
What’s unique about our locations?
From an historic, 19th century arsenal to a converted, landmark power plant, all of athenahealth’s offices were carefully chosen to represent our innovative spirit and promote the most positive and productive work environment for our teams. Our 10 offices across the United States and India — plus numerous remote employees — all work to modernize the healthcare experience, together.
Our company culture might be our best feature.
We don’t take ourselves too seriously. But our work? That’s another story. athenahealth develops and implements products and services that support US healthcare: It’s our chance to create healthier futures for ourselves, for our family and friends, for everyone.
Our vibrant and talented employees — or athenistas, as we call ourselves — spark the innovation and passion needed to accomplish our goal. We continue to expand our workforce with amazing people who bring diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives at every level, and foster an environment where every athenista feels comfortable bringing their best selves to work.
Our size makes a difference, too: We are small enough that your individual contributions will stand out — but large enough to grow your career with our resources and established business stability.
Giving back is integral to our culture. Our athenaGives platform strives to support food security, expand access to high-quality healthcare for all, and support STEM education to develop providers and technologists who will provide access to high-quality healthcare for all in the future. As part of the evolution of athenahealth’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, we’ve selected nonprofit partners that align with our purpose and let us foster long-term partnerships for charitable giving, employee volunteerism, insight sharing, collaboration, and cross-team engagement.
What can we do for you?
Along with health and financial benefits, athenistas enjoy perks specific to each location, including commuter support, employee assistance programs, tuition assistance, employee resource groups, and collaborative workspaces — some offices even welcome dogs.
In addition to our traditional benefits and perks, we sponsor events throughout the year, including book clubs, external speakers, and hackathons. And we provide athenistas with a company culture based on learning, the support of an engaged team, and an inclusive environment where all employees are valued.
We also encourage a better work-life balance for athenistas with our flexibility. While we know in-office collaboration is critical to our vision, we recognize that not all work needs to be done within an office environment, full-time. With consistent communication and digital collaboration tools, athenahealth enables employees to find a balance that feels fulfilling and productive for each individual situation.
