Your Team Responsibilities

We are looking for an energetic, hands-on, and organized Climate Data Quality Analyst to join the MSCI Climate Risk Center, a team of Climate Researchers, Financial modelers, and Software Engineers. The data that we produce informs the investment decisions of the world’s largest investors. This role is fundamental to expand our data quality capabilities and requires collaboration with several teams working on different products in the Climate Risk Center.

 

We build software to generate data that is used by our clients to identify and analyze the exposure of companies, properties, and financial assets to climate change risks and opportunities. Our models cover policy, technology and physical risks and translate these into relevant metrics for global investors. It is our goal to alert investors of the climate risk profiles of their investments and to tackle climate change at the roots. The team you will be joining is responsible that the data that goes to our clients meets ever-increasing quality demands and is delivered through all channels in a timely and reliable manner. The role requires close collaboration with various teams that are responsible for the delivery of new products and features. You will initially be working on understanding and executing existing quality checks, and the expectation is that -after having gained a thorough understanding of the existing processes- you will drive automation of those processes to increase both the effectiveness and consistency of these process.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the timely and successful execution of data quality checks that are critical to our production processes in close collaboration with various product teams.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvements and automation in our data quality checks and driving this forward, by applying data science and data engineering techniques and tools.
  • Contributing to our internal documentation and client-facing documentation relating to our data quality processes.
  • Gathering data and metrics to monitor and improve our processes and defining new quality metrics to support continuous improvement.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Self-motivated, hands-on, and pro-active attitude, and demonstrating an exceptional drive towards delivery.
  • Ability to learn quickly and the flexibility to adapt to new challenges.
  • Pragmatic mindset combined with a good understanding of data and a critical attitude to drive improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-cultural and geographically distributed team.
  • Good working knowledge of Python and data engineering and BI tools is a strong advantage
