Job Description

STV is seeking an experienced Cloud Data Architect to join our corporate IT group. This position is designated as hybrid (3 days week/in office), in one of our NE offices, preferably in Douglassville, PA, Philadelphia, PA, or Newark, NJ.

This position will help define and communicate a shared technical and architectural vision to ensure that systems align with STV’s business goals. Reporting to the IT Director of Business Systems, you will play a pivotal role with internal stakeholders, including IT, security, and data teams, to build a cloud platform that supports our current and future needs for data and application hosting. You will be responsible for designing and implementing an Azure Data Lake to consolidate and streamline data from ERP, HRIS, CRM, and other enterprise systems, supporting our organization’s data-driven decision-making. Your expertise in cloud architecture, big data platforms, and security will help ensure a smooth transition from our on-premises infrastructure to Azure, while meeting compliance requirements such as NIST and CMMC.

Responsibilities:

Architect and Design Cloud Environment:

  • Lead the design of the company’s new Azure-based cloud environment and data lake, focusing on scalability, security, and cost-efficiency
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into architectural requirements for a big data platform and future application hosting
  • Define the architecture for Azure resources (compute, storage, networking, etc.) and establish best practices for efficient cloud utilization

Big Data Platform Development:

  • Oversee the initial development and deployment of our big data platform in Azure, ensuring it is designed for performance and scalability
  • Define data architecture, pipelines, and integration strategies to support large-scale data processing and analytics
  • Define data ingestion pipelines and ETL processes to consolidate data from multiple systems, including ERP, HRIS, and CRM, ensuring data quality and consistency

Cloud Application Hosting Strategy:

  • Design a scalable cloud architecture supporting Azure Data Lake storage, ensuring secure and compliant data ingestion our enterprise systems
  • Provide architectural guidance on migrating legacy applications to the cloud and modernizing application landscapes
  • Provide guidance on API strategy for data movement to STV systems

Collaboration with Security Teams:

  • Work closely with the security team to ensure cloud infrastructure is compliant with NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) and CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) standards
  • Implement best practices for securing cloud resources, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, logging, and monitoring
  • Ensure data governance and security policies are implemented to protect sensitive data

Cloud Governance and Cost Management:

  • Develop and enforce cloud governance models, including resource tagging, cost management, and usage optimization
  • Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of cloud services
  • Define data retention policies and lifecycle management for data lake storage to optimize costs

Cross-Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with development, data engineering, and operations teams to align cloud architecture with overall business goals
  • Serve as a key technical advisor for Azure-related decisions, providing input on technical roadmaps and cloud adoption strategies

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business, or related discipline is required
  • Certification related to cloud architecture such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure
  • Proven experience designing and implementing big data platforms in the cloud, with expertise in services like Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, SQL Server, Power BI, etc.
  • Strong background in cloud security, including experience with NIST, CMMC, or other compliance frameworks
  • Experience in cloud application hosting and migrating applications from on-premises to Azure
  • Azure Services: In-depth understanding of Azure services (VMs, Storage, Networking, Azure Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Cosmos DB, etc.)
  • Cloud Security: Familiarity with security best practices for cloud infrastructure (IAM, Key Vault, encryption, logging)
  • Data Engineering: Strong understanding of big data platforms, data ingestion, data pipelines, and ETL processes
  • Networking: Knowledge of Azure networking, VNet architecture, firewalls, and hybrid cloud integrations
  • Automation and DevOps: Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as ARM templates, Terraform, and cloud automation tools like Azure DevOps

Compensation Range:

$89,487.93 – $119,317.24
