Job Description Summary
The Database Engineer will be actively involved in the evaluation, review, and management of databases. You will be part of a team who supports a range of Applications and databases. You should be well versed in database administration which includes installation, performance tuning and troubleshooting. A strong candidate will be able to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure, implement solutions that are scalable, while managing multiple customer groups.
What you will do

Work in a team in a Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) role.

Support large-scale enterprise data solutions with a focus on high availability, low latency and scalability.

Provide documentation and automation capabilities for Disaster Recovery as part of application deployment.

Build infrastructure as code (IAC) patterns that meet security and engineering standards using one or more technologies (Terraform, scripting with cloud CLI, and programming with cloud SDK).

Build CI/CD pipelines for build, test and deployment of application and cloud architecture patterns, using platform (Jenkins) and cloud-native toolchains.

Knowledge of the configuration of monitoring solutions and the creation of dashboards (DPA, DataDog, Big Panda, Prometheus, Grafana, Log Analytics. Chao Search). Proactively monitor production database systems, analyze findings, formulate recommendations, and work with the database Architect to implement recommendations

Authoring exceptional Technical Documentation

Execute and translate into operational excellence the database architecture roadmaps and specific plans to implement them

Ensure Technical Requirements and database standards are followed and implemented

KTLO DB tasks including but not limited to Database version upgrades; Patch testing and deployment; Functionality, stress, and load testing; Proactive database capacity planning; incident response, and problem diagnosis.

Performance tuning of database queries

Create and test High availability and disaster recovery plans

Participate in production on-call rotation (one week at a time of 7×24 on-call support for production environments)

Execute major database migrations as well as application migrations, with minimal system downtime

Proactively monitor production database systems, analyze findings, formulate recommendations, and work with the database Architect to implement recommendations
What experience you need
-
BS or Associate’s Degree/Technical Certification AND equivalent job experience required
-
2-50 years’ experience as an Oracle/SQL/Postgres/MySQL production and development DBA in a 24*7 environment

Experience in SQL and PL/SQL scripting and tuning

Experience with Linux (and Windows) required including Shell Scripting

Knowledge of DB Tools/Utilities (e.g., Toad, Enterprise Manager, SQL Developer, RMAN, EXPDP etc.)

Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to plan work to meet project deadlines, accommodate demands by users, set priorities, organize information and escalate issues appropriately

Ability to participate in multiple projects concurrently. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation), customer service-oriented, strong problem solving skills, and the ability to understand new technologies quickly are essential
