Cloud Database Migration Engineer, Google Cloud
Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience with Oracle databases and technologies (e.g., Oracle RAC, Exadata, OCI, GoldenGate, Active Data Guard, Autonomous Databases, Oracle Applications).
- Experience with full stack application development and experience writing software in Java, C#, C++, Python, Go, or JavaScript.
- Experience with database administration techniques or data engineering.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with homogeneous and heterogeneous PostgreSQL migration.
- Experience with Oracle database performance tuning and database management tools for backups, recovery, snapshot management, and partitioning.
- Experience with Oracle migration strategies and moving large-scale production systems either in on-premise/data center environments or migration to cloud.
- Experience with NoSQL databases, Migration, data modeling, performance tuning, and administration (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Bigtable).
- Knowledge of query tuning (e.g., isolating blocks of poor performing SQL, determining root cause, and developing remediation actions).
- Knowledge of disaster recovery and high availability strategies.

As a Cloud Database Migration Engineer, you will guide customers on the migration of transactional or NoSQL database systems to Google Cloud Platform and build modern GenAI applications using Google Cloud Databases. You will work with customers to explain technical requirements and assist in designing, planning, managing, and troubleshooting the data migration process. You will travel to customer sites to deploy solutions and deliver workshops to educate and empower customers. Additionally, you will work closely with Product Management and Product Engineering to build and constantly drive excellence in our products. You will travel regularly up to 30% of the time, in-region for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $118,000-$174,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and solve complex database migration issues.
- Create and deliver best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog articles, sample code, and technical presentations, tailoring approach and messaging to varied levels of business and technical stakeholders.
- Analyze on-premises and cloud database environments and consult on the optimal design for performance and deployment on Google Cloud Platform.
- Travel regularly up to 30% of the time, in-region for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities.
